4 Verona city Verona is located in the Veneto region, northern Italy, with approx inhabitants and one of the seven major cities of the region (territory of 195 km 2 ). More than 200,000 vehicles enter every day Road network of over 1000 km Traffic Management Centre (TMC) 3

5 Mobility challenges & Verona city approaches Verona is moving fast to address mobility challenges related to: Climate change, Energy policy, Air quality legislation and the difficulties of tackling congestions Evidences: October 2008 joined the Covenant of Mayors April 2011, adopted the environmental energy plan October 2011 approved the action plan for air quality and remediation Implementation of open data mechanisms to encourage citizens to access public information for their own benefit Develop new applications for the community (encourage entrepreneurs) 4

6 Strategies & Key Objectives Through system enhancements adaption, integration & optimization of traffic strategy to: Reduce overall delay, waiting times in traffic network Reduce pollution generated by traffic density Provide precise traffic info to end users Improve PT services increase regularity & commercial speed Improve traffic safety by decreasing the occurrences of accidents 5
