6 Purpose Windows 7 Microsoft ceased mainstream support for XP in 2009 and currently only provides extended support into Average enterprise company generally take well over 1.5 to 2 years to migrate to a new operating system. HW Vendors no longer sell XP and application developers will begin phasing out their support for it (e.g., drivers, applications, etc).
