11 DEMON Soluzione integrata per l abbattimento o, in alternativa, il recupero dei nutrienti nei digestati The process ANAMMOX (ANaerobic AMMonium OXidation) converts the ammonium directly in molecular nitrogen. The reactions are: Nitrification (partial): 2NH O 2 => NH NO H 2 O + 2H + Anammox: NH NO - 2 => N 2 + 2H 2 O ACIDO The process is done by specific microorganisms organisms «ANAMMOX» (Planctomycetales): autotrofic anaerobic bacteria observed for the first time in 1995 they contribute at 70% to the nitrogen cycle in the oceans 23. gennaio

The ammoniac produced is sent to a cleaning column (scrubber) from where it comes out in form of salt (ammonium sulphate).
