A Zoom in/out shot can zip a camera in or out of a scene very quickly. One drawback is the fact that this shot tends to be jerky. An Over-the-shoulder shot is often used to capture two facing characters who are exchanging dialog. A Full shot shows the image as approximately life size. This shot is good for location or a shot showing the entire human body, with the head near the top of the frame & feet near the bottom. A crane shot is when the camera is attached to something in the air and can move up, down, left, right, swooping in on action or moving diagonally out of it. A Tilt Shot is a camera movement which scans a scene vertically. A Close-up Shot is a shot taken very near to the subject. The setting, the actors and the props of the scene can be revealed in a Long Shot to familiarize the audience with their overall appearance. In a Tracking Shot a camera is placed on a moving object or track and moves alongside the action. This shot is a good way of portraying movement. Extreme Long Shots are used to impress the audience with the vast scope of the setting or event. A Medium Shot may contain a figure from the knees/waist up and is normally used for dialogue scenes. Variations on this include the TWO SHOT and the THREE SHOT. An Eye Level Shot is fairly neutral shot; the camera is positioned as though it is a human actually observing a scene, so that actors' heads are on a level with the focus. A low angle shot increases height and may make the object inspire fear and insecurity in the viewer, who is psychologically dominated by the figure or object on the screen. Shots that make up the bulk of television and commercial productions because they comfortably position the audience at an average, middle distance is a Medium Shot. In a high angle shot the camera is elevated above the action to give a general overview. The angle of this shot makes objects photographed appear smaller and less significant. This shot may give a sense of confusion or powerlessness to a viewer. A Close-up Shot shows very little background, and concentrates on either a face, or a detail of the scene. This shot magnifies the object and shows the importance of things. An extreme Close-up Shot generally magnifies beyond what the human eye would experience in reality. The Hand-Held Shot gives a jerky, ragged effect, totally at odds with the organized smoothness of most other shots. 20. A sequence is a series of shots that create a complete scene. Unit Production Managers are executives who are responsible for the administration of a film. 1

2 The Sound Recordist is responsible for recording the sound for the production in a manner that produces the highest quality audio possible under the varying production conditions. The Special Effects Coordinator is responsible for simulating real events that would otherwise be too dangerous, costly, or impossible to experience in a given setting. Manager The editor collects all of the existing footage, finds the story in it, and cuts a final version of the production. A person who is responsible for the supplying, training, and care of any animals needed for the production is an Animal Wrangler. Someone who is in charge of lighting sets as quickly & efficiently as possible is the Lighting Director. A writer is someone who writes the script. The Producer is responsible for ensuring that everyone involved had everything he or she needs to complete the production and manages the project through all of the production. Director of Photography is head or first cameraperson of the production and is directly responsible to the director. The crew is a group of workers who help make the film. An art director creates and maintains the overall photographic consistency of the art elements connected with the production. One who arranges for professional stunt people to perform risky stunts is the Stunt Coordinator. The Assistant Unit Production Manager provides help with all of the director s administrative functions and works in close cooperation with the unit production manager. The Makeup and Hair Supervisor selects and applies make-up and styles the actor s hair for the desired photographic effect. 39. Boolean operators are used to narrow your search on the computer. To import movie clips from a digital video camera using Adobe Premiere Elements you would click on the Capture Video button. You must get a Location Release Form signed to shoot on private property. The View Finder is a small eyepiece or screen on a camera. The floor director is the only one on the studio floor who should be talking to the director. Transitions in Adobe Premiere Elements are found in the Media Palette. When the camera follows an object from side to side, this is called a pan shot. A birds-eye view shot is shot from a very high angle. A low-angle shot tends to diminish the subject it focuses on. A crane shot is usually smooth. Point-of-View shot is set up so that the actors' heads are level with the focus. The Unit Production Manager is responsible for the administration of a film. The crew of a film do not make decisions about production. If you connected a DVD player to a TV, The TV would be considered the source.
