INTENSIVE SUMMER COURSE Would you like to acquire a basic knowledge of Spanish in just one month? Enrol this course! INTENSIVE SUMMER COURSE Mon-Thu am pm NEW!!!!! SPANISH IMMERSION COURSE A course aimed at travellers and students interested in learning Spanish and about Spanish culture. From 10 am to 6pm you will speak, laugh and eat in a real Spanish environment. We will start in the morning with Spanish lessons, then we will have a break in order to regain our strength with chocolate and churros. Afterwards we will continue with more linguistic content. At 2 pm (the Spanish lunch break) we will go to a Spanish restaurant where we will indulge in traditional Spanish food. In the afternoon you will join us on an insight into Argentinian culture, we will enjoy a variety of different Spanish musical styles, learn to cook Spanish dishes and much more! Come and immerse yourself into a complete Spanish linguistic and cultural experience without leaving Sydney! SPANISH AND HISPANIC AMERICAN LITERATURE COURSE* advanced course. Through the study of some of the most relevant Spanish and Hispanic American authors, students will strengthen and improve their command of Spanish. The reading list will be adjusted to suit the students interests. In the classes you will develop vocabulary, reinforce grammatical structures and gain fluency. Course materials will be selected according to students needs and interests. Lessons can be one-on-one or groups of up to three. A minimum purchase of 15 hours, which must be used within three months, is required. The schedule will be established before the start of the course. SPANISH IMMERSION COURSE Mon-Fri am pm SPANISH FOR BUSINESS* This 30 hour course is for professionals who wish to learn the norms of business communication and business practice in the Spanish speaking world. NEW!!!!! LATIN AMERICAN HISTORY This is a special course for the traveller interested in history. It will take you from the pre-hispanic times of Latin America to its colonization by Spain. You will discover the history behind the most important ancient cities, temples, fortresses and learn about the people who built them, how they lived, what they believed, who they worshipped. If you want to spend some pleasant moments, learn history in a different way and be able to discuss historical facts, then this is the course for you. SPANISH FOR TRAVELLERS* This crash course for beginners lasts 5 weeks with 6 hours per week and will provide you with the language used in daily situations while travelling. *These special courses depend on student demand. AVE is an interactive platform specifically designed by the Instituto Cervantes for distance learning. Currently Instituto Cervantes of Sydney offers individual courses without a tutor. Courses with tutor assistance will be incorporated soon. You can enrol for these courses at any time and a username and password will be provided to you and allow you to complete the course in a three-month period. Levels: Beginners Intermediate Advanced Proficiency ON-LINE COURSES TO PREPARE FOR THE DELE EXAM: B1 & B2 These courses are organized following the same structure as the DELE exams. New on-line Spanish course for children and young people Hola, Amigos! is an interactive digital resource with a collection of over 300 learning objects to support the teaching and learning of Spanish as a second language. 5 7 08 ENROLMENT & registration and payment options FEES & discounts ENROLMENT FEES No prior knowledge of Spanish? Complete beginners can enrol directly in our A1.1 course without a placement test. General courses Intensive courses $560* Some knowledge of Spanish? All students, except absolute beginners and continuing students from Instituto Cervantes in Sydney, must undergo a placement test prior to enrolment in order to be placed in the most appropriate course. Special courses Spanish Immersion Course $790 When can you take the placement test? IMPORTANT! Placement tests will be held at the Institute. Tests last approximately for 45 minutes and consist of an oral and a written part. Please note that there is a $50 fee for the Spanish assessment test that will be deducted from the course fee. 6 TERMS AND 9CONDITIONS Students should consider their personal commitments and circumstances before enrolment as we regret that no fees are refundable under any circumstances once the course has started. No partial refund can be granted for classes not attended and no postponement can be allowed. Cancellations must be made in writing enclosing the receipt, at least one day before the beginning of the course. The Instituto Cervantes reserves the right to cancel a course in cases of insufficient student numbers or unforeseen circumstances, in which case students can choose to enrol in a similar course or obtain a full refund. By enrolling, students receive 3 months access to AVE and a free library card, valid for a year. Students are responsible for acquiring the course materials (student and exercise book). Courses include a 5 minute break after 60 minutes of class. Classes consist of a maximum of 12 students. All requests to change enrolment status (class level, time or day) must be made during the first week of the course and in writing. They require the approval of the Head of Studies and, although we will do our best to accommodate all students, there are no guarantees that your request will be approved. Please be advised that, in the event of a course change, students will be responsible for any applicable price adjustments. Instituto Cervantes reserves the right to change teachers at any time for any course. From the first day of class, Spanish will be the main language throughout the course. The minimum age to study at Institute Cervantes is 16 years.
