1 Quick Start Guide DocuSign Print Driver 3.1 Published May 16, 2016 Overview The DocuSign Print Driver is a free utility that allows you to print your document directly into a DocuSign envelope or template from the application that created or opens it. This utility saves you time by eliminating the need to save, launch a browser session, create a new envelope or template and upload your document. The Print Driver does it all in one step. Additionally, the conversion process applied to your document by the Print Driver might resolve issues with loading certain documents. For example: if you have documents that won t load correctly or cannot be converted using the standard upload method, the Print Driver might resolve the problem. Note: DocuSign has software integration with many partners and forms providers that allow you to send your documents directly to DocuSign, fully tabbed and ready for signature without having to use the Print Driver. 2 2 Supported Platforms Operating System 64-bit and 32-bit versions: Windows 7 SP1, Windows 8.1, Windows 10 (with latest updates, recommended) Citrix Optional Software Support Citrix XenApp 6.5 Citrix XenDesktop 7.6 Browsers Latest stable release of all DocuSign-supported browsers that are compatible with the supported operating system. See System Requirements for a detailed list of supported browsers. DocuSign Web App Print Driver works with both the Classic DocuSign Experience and the New DocuSign Experience. File Support Print Driver accepts the print output from any application, and any file type. With Print Driver, you can print any file type to DocuSign, including those that are not supported for direct upload to the web app. The following page sizes are supported: LETTER - Default A3 A4 B4 B5 EXECUTIVE LEGAL TABLOID Downloading and Installing Print Driver The Print Driver utility is downloaded the DocuSign Support Center Downloads page and installed locally. If you have an earlier v3 version installed, the new version upgrades the previous version.
3 3 Note: You can maintain the older v2 version on your system as well - no need to uninstall that prior instance of the utility. You can install Print Driver through the install Wizard, or from the command line interface. You can also use the command line to repair and uninstall the Print Driver utility. Using a proxy server with Print Driver DocuSign Print Driver v3 supports using a proxy server to access the internet. The proxy server cannot be authenticated, so you can enter the server IP address and the port, but the proxy server cannot require a user name and password to authenticate. To specify an internet proxy server 1. Click the Windows Start button and select Control Panel. 2. Select Internet Options > Connections. 3. Click LAN settings. 4. Select the Use a proxy server for your LAN check box. 5. Enter the proxy server address and port. 6. Click OK. Download Print Driver For either install method (using Wizard or command line), first download the install package. To download Print Driver 1. Download the latest version of Print Driver from the DocuSign Support Center Downloads page. 2. In the Print Driver tile, click the Download link for the appropriate version for your system. The Print Driver installer is saved to your Downloads folder. Install using the Wizard When you install using the Wizard, you can choose your installation type: Typical (recommended). Installs Print Driver with default settings and supports connections to the Production DocuSign environment. This installation is recommended for general users. Advanced. This installation allows you to set your log and server settings. If you want to use Print Driver with a DocuSign account on a non-production environment, choose this installation type and set the server settings accordingly.
4 4 Once you install Print Driver, you can enter your DocuSign credentials and connect to your account. If you do not connect during the installation, you will be asked to log in to your DocuSign account when you use Print Driver to print a document. To install Print Driver using the Wizard 1. Double-click the install file to run the DocuSign Print Driver Installation Wizard. 2. Select your installation type and follow the on-screen instructions to install Print Driver. When installation is complete, the installer closes. The Print Driver is running in the background and you can connect to your DocuSign account. You can also use the Print Driver and enter your DocuSign credentials when you print your first document. Silent install from the Windows command line You can install Print Driver from the Windows command line. The syntax and parameters to run a silent install are as follows: /q /dir="<path>" /log="<log path>" /loglvl={0,1,2,3} /launchrestart={0 or 1} /shortcut={0 or 1} /serverinstance={0,1,1000} /[serverurl=<url>] Each parameter corresponds to the installation options in the Wizard. Parameters are defined as follows: Option q path log loglvl Description Sets the user interface level. When entered without a parameter, this command specifies no user interface and enables a silent install process. This option is required in order to run the installer in a silent mode, without any accompanying UI. If you use only /q, no other options, the silent install will run with the default values shown for all options. To set alternate values, include the additional command line options. Defines the destination for where to install the utility. Default: C:\ProgramFiles\DocuSign\Print Driver Defines the location for log files. Default log file location: C:\Program Files\DocuSign\Print Driver\Log Sets the logging level. This setting can be changed in the Print Driver settings. Values: 0 = debug
5 5 Option Description 1 = trace 2 = warning 3 = error Default: 3 launchrestart Determines if Print Driver is launched after installation and restart. Values: 0 = off 1 = on Default: 0 shortcut Specifies whether to add a Print Driver shortcut to your desktop. Values: 0 = no shortcut 1 = add shortcut Default: 1 serverinstance Specifies the DocuSign environment to connect to. Values: 0 = Production 1 = Demo 1000 = Custom Default: 0 serverurl Required if serverinstance = Specifies the URL of the server to connect to. This option is reserved for DocuSign internal use. Example: This example specifies the Production environment. "DocuSign Print Driver x64.exe" /q /dir="c:\docusigndriver\" /log="c:\docusignlog\" /loglvl=2 /launchrestart=1 /shortcut=0 /serverinstance=0
6 6 To connect to your DocuSign account 1. Click the DocuSign Print Driver icon in your system tray, and select Connect. 2. In the DocuSign Log In window, enter your DocuSign and password. 3. Click Log In. Note: If you have more than one DocuSign account associated with the credentials entered, you can select which account you want to use in the Print Driver Settings. The session credentials are used to send documents with DocuSign Print Driver until you disconnect from DocuSign, quit Print Driver, or log off from your computer. To disconnect from DocuSign Click the DocuSign Print Driver icon in your system tray, and select Disconnect from DocuSign. Your session credentials are cleared. You must reconnect to use Print Driver again. DocuSign Print Driver v3.0 supports using a proxy server to access the internet. Using Print Driver From any document, you can use the Print Driver to either print one or more documents to send to others to sign (Print to send), or print a single document to just sign yourself (Print to sign). You can also create templates with Print Driver. To use Print Driver, you simply open the document you want to print to DocuSign and use the application's Print function, select the Print to DocuSign printer, and chose your print options. You can jump ahead to How to Print Documents to DocuSign, or read the rest of this topic for more background on print options and the Print Queue.
7 7 DocuSign Print Options When you print a document to DocuSign, the first dialog you encounter is the DocuSign Print Options. This section explains the options presented in the dialog. Print to sign - if you are the only one signing the document, select this option. When you print your document, it presents in the DocuSign signing view for you to add fields and complete the document. When finished, you can send a copy of the completed PDF to others. Print to send (new envelope)- with this option, you can add other recipients to sign your document. When you print, Print Driver creates a new DocuSign envelope with your document. You can finish and send your document, or you can print additional documents to the same envelope using the Print to last envelope option. Print to new template - use this option to create a new template with your document. Print to existing template - select an existing template in your account to print your document to. Print to last envelope / Print to last template - this option allows you to print multiple documents to the last transaction (envelope or template). Print Driver sends the document to the last envelope used by the driver. If the last envelope is no longer available (for example, it was already sent or deleted), then a notification appears with the option to either create a new
8 8 envelope or cancel the print job. You can see the first portion of the transaction ID and the date and time stamp of the last printing. Other settings - the two additional settings to save as default and do not show message are available in the Print Options. Whatever you select here, you can change these settings later through the DocuSign Print Driver Settings. DocuSign Print Queue When you print documents using the Print to send option, or any of the Print to template options, your documents register in the DocuSign Print Queue. You can see each envelope or template in process, and each document printed. As soon as your document finishes processing, it is available as a draft envelope or template in your DocuSign account. The ID of the draft is a link, which you can select to open the item in DocuSign, allowing you to preview the in process transaction, without clearing the items from the Print Queue. Note: This link is first portion of the envelope or template ID. You can see and copy the complete ID from the Print Driver Account settings. Documents remain in the Print Queue until you choose to open the envelope to Finish in DocuSign, or use the Remove from queue option to clear them from the list. You can also open the Print Queue from the system tray icon. A green check mark on the icon indicates that you have successfully printed documents to the Print Queue.
9 9 How to Print Documents to DocuSign Ready to print your document to DocuSign? This topic covers how to print a single document to sign yourself, or print one or more documents to send to others to sign. To print to sign a document yourself (Print to sign) 1. Open the document, and then open the Print dialog for the application (this is usually done through the application's menu option File > Print). 2. In the list of available printers, select Print to DocuSign. 3. Click Print. If Print Driver is not already connected to DocuSign, you are prompted to log in. The DocuSign Print Options dialog opens. 4. Select Print to sign to print your document to DocuSign for just you to sign, no other signers. 5. Click Print. The DocuSign Print Queue dialog appears, showing the progress of the document conversion. Once conversion is complete, a browser window opens and the document is ready for you to sign. 6. In the signing window, click Continue to start the signing process. 7. Drag the fields from the Fields palette at the left onto your document, and complete them as needed.
10 10 8. When you've added and completed all needed fields, click Finish to finish signing your document. 9. (Optional) In the Sign and Return dialog, add the names and addresses of anyone you'd like to send a copy of your signed document to, and click Send and Close. Your document is complete and the signed PDF is available in your DocuSign account. To print a document for others to sign (Print to send) 1. Open the document, and then open the Print dialog for the application (this is usually done using the application menu option File > Print). 2. In the list of available printers, select Print to DocuSign. 3. Click Print. If Print Driver is not already connected to DocuSign, you are prompted to log in. The DocuSign Print Options dialog opens. 4. Choose whether to print the document to a new or existing envelope: Print to send (new envelope) - creates a new DocuSign envelope with the current document. Print to last envelope - print multiple documents to the same envelope with this option. Print Driver sends the document to the last envelope used by the utility. If the last envelope is no longer available (for example, it was already sent or deleted), then a notification appears with the option to either create a new envelope or cancel the print job. If this is the first time you are printing with Print Driver, or if you reset the session, then Print Driver automatically creates a new envelope. 5. Click Print. The DocuSign Print Queue dialog appears, showing the progress of the document conversion, and includes a portion of the envelope ID: A green check mark appears on the Print Driver system tray icon to indicate there are items in the Print Queue. 6. To print additional documents to the same envelope, repeat Steps 1-6, selecting the Print to last
11 11 envelope print option. The Print Queue updates with the additional documents added to the last envelope: 7. When you're ready to send an envelope to finish in DocuSign, click the Finish in DocuSign link. A browser window opens with your envelope for you to finish. 8. Add recipients, following the general DocuSign steps described in Add Recipients. 9. Enter a Message to All Recipients subject. This entry becomes the subject for recipients and the document title. 10. Click Next and continue to the Add Fields view. 11. Select each recipient for your envelope and add fields. Drag the fields from the Fields palette at the left onto your document. See Add Fields in the DocuSign help for more information. 12. Once you finish adding fields for your recipients, click Send to send your document. Your document is sent to all recipients and is available in your DocuSign account. How to Print to a Template You can use Print Driver to print documents to a new template, or to an existing template in your account. Note: You must have the appropriate DocuSign template permission setting (create or share) in order to print to a template. This setting is controlled by your account administrator, as described in the Permission Sets guide.
12 12 To print to a new template 1. Open the document, and then open the Print dialog for the application (this is usually done through the application's menu option File > Print). 2. In the list of available printers, select Print to DocuSign. 3. Click Print. If Print Driver is not already connected to DocuSign, you are prompted to log in. The DocuSign Print Options dialog opens. 4. Select Print to new template to create a new template with your document. 5. Select Print. The DocuSign Print Queue dialog appears, showing the progress of the document conversion. 6. To print additional documents to the same template, repeat Steps 1-5, selecting the Print to last template print option. The Print Queue updates with the additional documents added to the last template. To print to an existing template 1. Follow Steps 1-3 in To print to a new template. 2. In the DocuSign Print Options, select Print to existing template. 3. Select Print.

Select a recent template from the list, or search for a particular template: Select from recent templates - mark this option and scroll through list to locate the template and click to select it. Search all templates - mark this option and enter any portion of the template name in the search field, then click to select one of the search results.
14 14 Note: You can review basic template details by selecting the ellipsis circle. 5. Choose whether to add the document to the template or replace an existing document: Append to selected template - adds your document to the end of the documents already in the template. Replace a document in the selected template - lists the existing documents for you to select the one you want to replace. 6. Select Print. The DocuSign Print Queue dialog appears, showing the progress of the document conversion, and includes a portion of the template ID:
15 15 7. To print additional documents to the same template, repeat Steps 1-4, selecting the Print to last template print option, and select whether to append or replace. The Print Queue updates with the additional documents added to the last template. 8. To complete the template and add recipients and fields, select Finish in DocuSign. The DocuSign Template Details view appears. 9. To add recipients and fields, and adjust any other template information, select Edit and complete your template. Adjusting Print Driver Settings The Print Driver menu lets you view the connected user information, change account settings, connect to your DocuSign account, open the Print Queue, and more. You access the menu by right-clicking on the Print Driver system tray icon in your Windows task bar. Most of these menu selections are self-explanatory. This topic presents further information on the Settings... selection.
16 16 IMPORTANT: When you make changes to any of these Print Driver settings, you must select OK to save your changes. Account In the Account settings, you can do the following tasks: Change or disconnect the connected user. If you have multiple accounts, or you are sharing the application with another DocuSign user, you can easily switch users. Use the Change option to switch to another account. Use the Disconnect option to disconnect Print Driver from your DocuSign account. Select an account. If the connected user has multiple accounts, you can select which account to use. Get the ID of the last Print Driver-generated transaction. The Last ID field records the ID of the last envelope or template transaction generated through the Print Driver. Reset the Print Driver session. This ends the current print session, If you have an envelope in the Print Queue, you cannot print any additional documents to it.
17 17 Printing The Printing settings are the default print options selected when you use Print Driver to print an envelope to DocuSign. You can modify the defaults by changing them in the Printing Settings. These print settings include whether to Print to sign or Print to Send, as described in Using Print Driver. You can also set a default to Print to last session, which is useful if you generally print multiple documents to the same envelope or template. There are two additional settings: Always show printing options. If you previously opted to hide the print options, you can restore them through this setting. Open in DocuSign after each Print to send. Each time you print a document using the Print to send option, when the file finishes processing, a browser opens to your DocuSign account, with your draft document ready to finish sending. The document is cleared from the Print Queue. If you save the document as a draft in your account, you can continue printing additional files to it using the Print to send > Print to last envelope option. General Select which browser the Print Driver uses to open your envelope in DocuSign. Log If you experience problems with your account and engage DocuSign Customer Support, the Support rep may ask you to modify the logging level on your account. This logging captures up to the last 30 days of activity and assists Support in troubleshooting account issues. Default log file location: C:\Program Files\DocuSign\Print Driver\Log Once you have set and captured a sufficient measure of logs, you can download the log file from the stored location, and provide it to your Support rep to help analyze your account issues. To download the log file 1. Select the appropriate duration in the File drop down (Today, Last Week, Month). 2. Click Save. 3. In the Save As dialog, browse to where you want to save the file and click Save. Advanced The Advanced settings enables you to use accounts on different environments. For example, many users have Demo accounts, in addition to their regular Production account.
18 18 If you change the Server selection in the Advanced settings, you must enter account information on the Account settings that matches the server.
