Streets slope to the periphery for drainage purposes. 16 squares: alternating churches and specialized markets. The center: Piazza surrounded by the Cathedral, Ducal Palace and Law Courts. Flanking piazzas: Town Hall, Prison, Mayor s Palace, Markets, Baths, Brothels, Taverns, and Inns.
