2 RESEARCH EXPERIENCE 2006-Present Principal Investigator: Shannon Community Safety Initiative, Local Action Research Partner. This program is funded by Massachusetts s Executive Office of Public Safety (EOPS). Northeastern University was selected as the local action research partner to work directly with the New Bedford Police Department to assist with the development, implementation, and evaluation of their gangviolence reduction program. Grant award: $63,000 ( ); $75,000 ( ); $49,691 ( ; Pending) Research Associate: Project Safe Neighborhoods. United States Department of Justice funded initiative through the Office of the United States Attorney, Massachusetts District Office. Purpose of this initiative is to assist ten police agencies throughout Massachusetts develop and implement firearm reduction strategies Research Assistant: Strategic Approaches to Community Safety Initiative (SACSI). Technical assistance for the BJA funded project directed at preventing and intervening in street-level violence in the City of Detroit. Responsibilities include analyzing multitude of data sources relevant to drug and gun related violence, and developing strategies to analyze and present data in spatial/geographical format Program Evaluator: Lansing (MI) Police Department s Juvenile Diversion Program. Conducting process and outcome evaluation for the Juvenile Accountability Incentive Block Grant (JAIBG) funded program Program Evaluator: Lansing (MI) Police Department s School-Based Problem-Solving Initiative. Conducting process and outcome evaluation for the COPS funded program Research Assistant: Michigan Juvenile Intervention Program. Providing training and technical assistance to Cities of Flint, Grand Rapids, Lansing, and Saginaw (MI) with the implementation of their Office of Drug Control Policy s (Michigan Department of Community Health) grant funded intervention programs for high-risk juvenile offenders. Principle investigator is Timothy Bynum Research Assistant: Gun acquisition and gun use by juvenile offenders in the state of Michigan. Analyzed data and prepared written reports for Justice Research Statistics Association funded project on patterns of gun acquisition and use by incarcerated youthful offenders in Michigan.
