Through a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Fellowship he began an academic career emphasizing research and teaching in rural health care and geriatrics. Has served in a dual role as the chief executive officer of a large multispecialty medical group and the senior most medical officer for a health plan. Has served as the senior most quality officer for a large medical group.
