Scientific Training "Adhesion of Desulfovibrio alaskensis to glass surfaces" conducted in the Biocorrosion laboratory at the Faculty of Science, University of Lisbon under the guidance of Professor Maria Margarida Meireles Teixeira de Faria (Faculty of Science University of Lisbon) and Dr. Paula Bacelar-Nicolau (Open University), September 2003 to October 2004, with final score of 18 points (1 to 20). This traineeship (one year) consisted in learning microbiology techniques, in anaerobic conditions, and routine light microscopy Traineeship in the laboratory of Professor Harry Gilbert at the Institute for Cell and Molecular Biosciences, Medical School, Newcastle University. This traineeship (3 months) aim was to obtain calorimetric values of the formation of protein-protein complexes. It was learned the handling of the isothermal calorimetry titration apparatus (ITC) Traineeship (3 months) in the laboratory of Professor Harry Gilbert at the Institute for Cell and Molecular Biosciences, Medical School, Newcastle University. Utilization of isothermal titration calorimetry for obtaining calorimetric parameters of protein-protein binding.
