2 Connect to the VMware Horizon environment using 3 different methods 1. Access your Remote resources through a web browser a) Method 1 is going to the URL and clicking on the icon VMware Horizon HTML Access. This will allow you to access your resources straight from the browser of your choice without downloading any software. This is for quick access when you need to quickly access a desktop or application. b) Login using your University username and password, make sure you select University from the drop-down menu. 2

3 c) Once you are logged in you will see all the Desktops and Applications you have access too. You can launch any of them by clicking on their icon and it will launch directly in your browser. 3

4 d) You can launch multiple applications and desktops and switch between them using the left-hand side navigation pane. You can close applications or desktops by using the X next to the currently running application or desktop. 4

5 2. Access your Remote resources through the Horizon Client 5

6 a) If you are going to use the Horizon View environment on a regular basis and want better performance and features, then you will want to install the Horizon client. Choose the option to Install the VMware Horizon Client. b) On the next screen choose the installer package that is appropriate for your computer. c) Once you have downloaded the installer, launch it to begin the installation 6

7 d) Click next on the Setup window, put a check mark in the box to accept the license agreement and click Next. 7

8 e) Leave the IPv4 option selected and click Next. 8

9 f) Select the options you want on the Custom Setup window (defaults are fine) and click Next. g) For the Default Server window enter in remote.ucdenver.edu and click Next. 9

10 h) On the Enhanced Single Sign On screen you will want to put a check mark in the box Set default option to login as current user if you have a University computer that you use your credentials to login in order to avoid an extra login when using the Horizon client. i) Select where you would like shortcuts made for your computer and then click next. 10

11 j) Click on Install and once the installation is complete you will click on Finish and will be prompted to reboot your computer. Click on Yes to reboot your computer once you have all your work saved. k) Once you have rebooted your computer launch the VMware Horizon client from your all programs. You will be greeted by the server you inputted before, it will be a good idea to right-click on the icon and choose the Autoconnect to this Server option to avoid this screen in the future. l) You will either be presented with a Login screen or go straight to your resources depending on how you configured your client in step H. 11

12 m) You will now see all the desktops and applications you have access too. You can double click on any of them to launch them as if they were any other application on your computer. n) You can click on the gear icon in the top-right of the window to change the default behavior of Applications and Desktops. 12

13 o) When launching any Application or Desktop for the first time you will get a Sharing window, you can choose the Allow option to share files between your local device and your remote Desktops and Applications. 13
