4 6757 Introduction to Tourism Business Administration The content of the programme is structured into two parts. In the FIRST PART, the firm is presented as an alternative resource allocation mechanism to the market. This leads us to study the concept and the treatment that the firm has received from both an economic and a psycho-social perspective. On the basis of these proposals, a review is conducted of the different contributions and conceptual ideas relating to business objectives, in order to develop their function in the creation of value. The distribution of this added value leads us to reflect on the concept and implications of corporate social responsibility, which closes the first part of the module. All of this is complemented by practical case studies in the tourism sector, so that students learn relevant skills and capabilities. The SECOND PART seeks to provide the fundamentals of management and administration of the firm. In the first place, the knowledge needed to understand the role of directors will be introduced, at the same time as the decision-making processes are studied and the nature of the work of the director is systematised. In addition, planning and control are presented and the integration of both elements is studied. This second part continues with the study of the organizational structure, for which purpose, beginning with its conceptual definition, the elements and its relations are defined, as well as the structural dimensions, which allows us in the end to present the basic structural models. Finally, and having analysed the problem of the different functional areas of the firm throughout the course topics (human resources, production, marketing and finances), we place special emphasis on the area of human resources, because of the importance of its implications for the development of the firm, paying special attention to the question of the tourism sector Historic and Cultural Processes We will show the interactions of material and spiritual examples and their phenomena on the generation of forms of cultural expression of great attraction for humankind today. We will therefore also study the economic, social, political and religious conditions that underlie the principal cultures, which have left a long-lasting material hallmark a notable Historic heritage- on the global landscape. 1st year 4/5

5 6759 Tourism Marketing The primordial objective is to impart a basic knowledge of tourism marketing to the student. The key contents have therefore been defined in four parts: the conceptualization of marketing as a process of exchange of goods, services, ideas and values; the analysis of purchasing behaviour and demand in the tourism sector; segmentation in the tourism sector and, finally, the design of commercial policies. 1st year 5/5
