He was buried on 21 Feb 2003 in Queen of Peace Mausoleum, Antigo, Langlade County, Wisconsin. FEBRUARY OBITUARY ANNOUNCEMENT: Orrin H. Heinrich, a World War II pilot and mink rancher, died Sunday, February 16, 2003 at the Eastview Medical and Rehabilitation Center. He was 87 years old. Mr. Heinrich served as a navigator in the United States Air Force from 1942 until During World War II he performed 16 missions in a B-17 Flying Fortress. His plane was shot down by German fighters on March 6, He spent 14 and 1/2 months as a prisoner of war in Stalag LufOns, as soldiers said a guest of Germany. He was discharged from the Air Force with the rank of captain. Following the military service, he operated a mink ranch in the Town of Rolling for 33 years, and remained active in the retail fur business following retirement. Mr. Heinrich was born February 15, 1916 in Antigo, a son of the late Walter and Clara (Klemm) Heinrich. He married the former Charlotte M. Meyer on May 31, 1941 in Davenport, Iowa. She survives. Mr. Heinrich graduated from Antigo High School in 1934 and served in the Civilian Conservation Corps from 1936 until 1939, He was a member of St John Catholic Church in Antigo and served on the Finance Committee, and Parish Council. He was also a member of Leland-Tollefson No. 2653, Paul Marms Disabled American Veterans Chapter 3, and Sparks-Doernenburg American Legion Post No 3, all of Antigo. He enjoyed deer hunting, spending time in the woods, cutting wood and wood working. In addition to his wife, survivors include three daughters: Mary Ann (Michael) Lynch of Mequon, Dorothy (Bruce) Olson of Plover, and Deborah (Gary) Scharping of Moyale, Kenya, East Africa, three sons, John (Jean Adams) Heinrich of Marquette, Michigan, Michael (special friend Pam Raith) Heinrich of Antigo and Joseph (Jane) Heinrich of London, England, and nine grandchildren. His further survived by two sisters Lorna (William) Vafeas of LaCrosse and Florence (Lester) Schumitsch of Antigo; a son-in-law, John Jansen of Glendale; a brother, Roy Heinrich of Antigo, and a sister-in-law, Evelyn Heinrich of Antigo. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Lucy Jansen in 2002, two sisters, Marie Poss and Verna Adams, and a brother Eldo Heinrich. Funeral services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at St John Catholic Church. Rev. Jeremiah Worman will officiate. Interment with military rites by Antigo veterans will be in the Queen of Peace Mausoleum. Visitation is planned at the Bradley Funeral Home Thursday from 3:30p.m. until 8 p.m. and Friday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. A wake service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday.
