4 SECTION 1: INTRODUCTION SECTION 1 Introduction The MDVR14-4 Player (Micro D Player) is a Microsoft Windows based application for viewing, searching, and converting video files recorded by the MDVR14-4 DVR. 1.1 System specifications Micro D Player can be installed on computers that meet the minimum requirements shown in the table below. 5 SECTION 2: INSTALLATION SECTION 2 Installation To install Micro D Player software, do the following: 1. Verify that your computer system meets or exceeds the minimum system requirements for installation and use (see Section 1 of this document). 2. Login to your system as a user with administrative privileges. 3. Open a web browser and go to Supercircuits.com. In the upper right corner of the home page enter MDVR14-4 in the KEYWORD SEARCH field, then press Enter. 4. In the results list from the search, find the MDVR14-4 DVR, then click View Product. 5. Click the PRODUCT RESOURCES tab, then click MDVR14-4 Player Software and download it. 6. When the download is complete, open the.zip archive. MDVR14-4 Player User Manual 3

6 SECTION 2: INSTALLATION 7. In the.zip archive, double-click setup.exe to open the file. The Micro D Player installation window will open. Click Next. 8. Browse for the preferred installation folder, select the intended user option, then click Next. 4

7 SECTION 2: INSTALLATION 9. In the following window, click Back to change your preferences, or Next to continue. 10. Allow the software installation to complete, then click Next. 11. 9 SECTION 3 Using Micro D Player The Micro D Player installer creates an icon on the windows desktop, and an entry in the Start menu. 10 NOTE If you right-click on the video playing in the play frame, the image expands to full screen. Right-click the video image again to return to the normal window. Window Icons Help Opens the help system File Index Renew Refreshes the List tab index when additional files are added to the selected folder. Setup Enables the display of areas where motion was detected in the video stream by the DVR. Scale The scale shows the current frame position in the video file and indicates when events occurred. Start Time Scale with 1 Second Increment Scale with 1 Minute Increment Event Indicator Frame Position in File Scale Legend Video play controls Move 1 Frame Back Move 1 Frame Forward Rewind Pause Play Fast Forward Click Rewind or Fast Forward repeatedly to double the rewind or forward speed. Click Play to return to normal forward speed. Zoom You can zoom in on an area of the video by creating a bounding box over the video when it is playing or stopped. To create the bounding box, press the left mouse button and drag the mouse across the area of the want to zoom in on, then release the mouse button. 8

14 3.5 Opening files To open (play) files in Micro D Player: 1. Remove the SD card from the Micro DVR. 2. Insert the SD card into the SD card reader on your PC. 3. Click the icon (Open Folder) in the lower right corner of the Micro D Player. Browse the SD card or location on your PC where.sdr2 files exist. Find and highlight the directory containing the files, then click OK. On the SD card, the DATA directory contains the video files. 4. Video files can be opened in different ways. Some are: Click the icon (File Open) on the Micro D Player, click the name of the file you want to open to highlight it, then click Open. 12

15 Click the LIST tab, browse the list to find the file you want to open, then click the entry. Click the CALENDAR tab, click the (bold) date when the file you want to open was recorded, click the mark in the Hour Chart to select a file, then click the thumbnail of the file to open it. 3.6 Convert.sdr2 video files to.avi.sdr2 files recorded by the MDVR14-4 DVR can be converted to.avi files for compatibility with most computer operating systems, such as Microsoft Windows with Windows Media Player. These files can be converted fully, or in part by establishing a start point (using the A button) in the file and an end point (using the B button) before the conversion. The converter then creates a video segment from A (start) to B (end) in.avi format. To convert a video segment from.sdr2 to.avi format: 1. Open (play) the video file you want to convert. 2. While the file is playing, mark the starting point of the video segment you want to convert by clicking the Pause button then clicking (A button), or by just clicking the A button. Clicking the A button pauses the playback and puts an A marker on the scale. 3. Click the Play button to continue playing the file. When you reach the end point of the video segment you want convert, click (B button). Clicking the B button pauses the playback and puts an B marker on the scale. 4. Click (AVI button) to open the EXPORT window. In the EXPORT window, you can adjust the A and B markers forward or back to change the start and end points of the video segment you want to convert. Click the Export button on the VIDEO EXPORT window. A Save As window will open. The Save operation suggests a file name using the start and end times of the recording in format YYYYMMDD_HHMMSS-YYYYMMDD_HHMMSS.avi. Browse for the Save In directory where you want to save the file, change the default filename if necessary, then click Save to convert and save the file. 14

17 6. After the conversion completes, click Close to close the conversion status window. 3.7 Snapshots While a video is playing, you can save a snapshot of a video image in.jpg format. To take a snapshot of the video frame: 1. Play the video that contains the image you want to snapshot. 2. When the video frame you want to capture appears during playback, click Pause and then (JPG button), or just click the JPG button. The IMAGE EXPORT window will open. 3. In the IMAGE EXPORT window, you can: Change image size To select an image size, click the preferred size button in the right frame of the window. Add a caption to the picture In the Caption field below the image, enter the caption you want to save with the picture, click Apply, then click the click one of the eight arrow buttons in the Caption Position guide to place the caption in that spot. 4. 18 The Save operation suggests a filename using the timestamp of the frame in the video image (rounded to the next second) in format YYYYMMDD_HHMMSS.jpg. Browse for the Save In directory where you want to save the file, change the default filename if you want, then click Save to write the JPG image file. 3.8 Preview video To examine the video contents by frames, click (Preview button) while playing a video file. The player will display frames of the video data captured at intervals of time. The time interval between each frame displayed can be set to 1, 2, 3, 5, 10, 20 30, or 60 seconds by clicking the preferred interval in the Image Interval block (lower-left corner of the play frame). 16

19 If more than one page of video frames is generated for the video file, use the navigation buttons to move through the images. Move to First Page Move to Previous Page Move to Previous Frame Move to Next Frame Move to Next Page Move to Last Page Click (Auto button) to cycle through the frames at the selected Preview Speed. This feature functions when more than one page of frames exists. To expand a video frame to fill the play window, click the frame you are interested in. You can move from frame to frame forward or backward, return to the Preview view, or play the video file with the buttons in the Play window. MDVR14-4 Player User Manual 17

20 3.9 Show motion detection areas If a video file was recorded by the DVR with motion detection enabled, you can show the areas where motion was detected when playing the file. To enable this feature, click (Setup icon at the top of the window). In the Setup dialog popup window, click the Show Motion Area checkbox to select it, then click Confirm. 18
