11 SUMMARY e-navigation is an integral world wide concept supportive to safety of navigation, efficiency of shipping, security and protection of the marine environment User driven, scalable future orientated -; Affecting legislation, responsibilities, organizations, processes, infrastructure, procedures and training (all aboard and ashore); Providing a harmonized combination of old and new navigation, communication and data/information exchange services, both functional and technical, responding to evolving user needs; Through its capabilities supportive to other - regional developments or potential implementations such as e- Maritime, Marine Electronic Highway, Sea Traffic Management, collaboration in the maritime logistic domain, etc.; providing potential solutions for or additional contributions to present issues such as vulnerabilities of GNSS, communication coverage and use, future data management and exchange; societal and traffic related developments e.g. decrease navigable space and the need for further tuned Marine Spatial Planning to assure access abilities for seas / ports; Only achievable by collaboration on each and every level.
