Z-Closure Storage and Handling Storage - Metal building products should be stored in a dry well ventilated space. Never cover materials with non-breathing or plastic tarps. This may cause condensation which will deteriorate the protective coating of the materials. General Handling- Carry the roofing panels on edge instead of laying flat. Foot Traffic - Wear clean, soft sole, non-marking shoes when walking on installed roofing panels. Only step in areas where the panel is in contact with the roof deck

4 Eave Edge Detail: 1.) Fasten eave edge to the roof deck every 12 with 1 panhead head screw. Screw should be centered in the width of the eave edge. 2.) Butt adjacent pieces without overlap at the joint and seal the joint with 4 butyl tape. Do not overlap the drip edge sections. 3.) Bird Stop foam strips should be installed between the drip edge and the underside of the panel at the eave edge only. EAVE EDGE Rake Edge Detail 1: 1.) Install the Inner gable up the rake edges using panhead screws every foot. The opening of the inner gable should face toward the roof deck. The back side should align with the outside edge of the roof deck. 2.) Butt the edges of trim together at the joints and line the underside of the joint with roofing tape to seal. 3.) The first and last rows are fastened through the top of the inner gable with panhead screws before installing the outer gable. 4.) Wait to install the outer gable trim until the roof installation is complete. 5.) In high wind areas the outer gable can be fastened to the fascia near the bottom of the leg as often as needed. INNER GABLE OUTER GABLE Rake Edge Detail 2: 1.) Install the inner gable up the rake edge using panhead screws ever foot. 2.) Butt the pieces without overlap and line the underside of the joint with tape to seal. 3.) The panels that begin and end at the rake edges are fastened through the top of the inner gable with panhead screws. 4.) Hem one side of the ridge cap to hook on to the inner gable. Leave the other side unhemmed to be flat against the fascia. 5.) Fasten with color matched screws every foot. INNER GABLE OUTER GABLE

5 RIDGE DETAIL - VENTED Vented RIDGE CAP C-CLOSURE Hip and Ridge Detail(s): Hip and ridge capping can be installed before the roof panels to prevent walking on the finished roof. For ridges the vented C-Closure is fastened to the deck every 12 with panhead screws. For unvented hips or ridges the Z strip is installed with panhead screw every 12. Be sure the lower edge of the C or Z strips are the proper distance down the slope to receive the hem of the cap section. When overlapping the cap sections be sure to maintain the correct spacing end to end by nesting the ridge cap together. RIDGE DETAIL - NON-VENTED Non-Vented RIDGE CAP Z-CLOSURE Valley Detail: 1.) Install the valley pan using panhead screws every 12. The fastener should be at least 6 up from the center ridge of the panel. Be sure the panel is fitted to the valley profile well enough to prevent bridging between the opposing roof decks. For valleys longer than 10 lap the sections at least 6 with butyl sealant between the layers of metal. Trim the water lock off the upper piece to fit inside the lower piece. 2.) Cut the roof panels at the angle of the valley fitting it as close to the center ridge as possible. Additional fastener locations may be needed to secure the panels in the valley. W-VALLEY Sidewall - OPTION 3 Sidewall Detail: 1.) Cut roof panel to the width needed to meet the sidewall. 2.) Install sidewall flashing (inner gable) before the panel fastening every 12 just inside the water lock. 3.) Install the panel with the cut edge against the sidewall. 4.) Install the counter flashing over both the panel and the sidewall flashing hooking the counter flash hem on to the edge of the inner gable. 5.) Fasten the counter flashing into the sidewall or fit behind the siding and secure. 6.) When installing along an chimney be sure the counter flashing is sealed to the brick or a reglet is cut into the mortar joints. SIDE WALL FLASHING C - CLOSURE

6 END WALL TRANSITION - OPTION 1 SIDING TRANSITION TRIM Vented Endwall Detail with C Closure: 1.) Install C closure without covering the ventilation opening in the deck. Fasten every 12 with panhead screws. 2.) Hook hem of end wall flashing on the C closure and fasten into the end wall or tuck end wall flashing behind siding. If counter flashing is surface mounted seal the top with butyl sealant as needed. C-CLOSURE Non-Vented Endwall Detail with Z Closure: 1.) Fasten the Z closure to the roof deck with panhead screws every ) Make sure it is low enough to fit into the hem on the end wall flashing. 3.) Fasten the end wall flashing into the end wall with the hem hooked into the Z closure part. 4.) Lap end wall flashing behind the siding or seal to the end wall as needed. 5.) When installing up to a chimney be sure counter flashing is sealed to the brick. SEALANT BEAD TRANSITION TRIM Z-CLOSURE Transition Detail: 1.) Install Z-closure sealing the bottom to the roof deck at the roof angle change. TRANSITION TRIM 2.) Install the transition flashing with the lower hem hooked into the Z-Closure. 3.) Install the upper roof section first over the transition flashing along the bottom edge. Z-CLOSURE 4.) Then install the lower roof section under the transition flashing fitting the panels all the way up into the Z closure.

7 General installation guidelines: Installing Matterhorn metal roofing over existing shingles is acceptable per local building requirements. Roof deck required is a minimum 1/2 CDX plywood. Install synthetic underlayment on the roof deck, or per local building code. To achieve a class A fire rating install 1/2 Dens Deck. Eave, gable(rake), and valley treatment must be installed before panels. Hip and ridge capping may also be installed before the panels. When cutting panels to length always remove material from top end of the panel. This leaves the factory pre-formed end at the bottom to lap over the panel below. Fasten the panel to the roof deck with recommend hex head screw in every slot provided (5 per panel) to achieve maximum wind uplift requirement Prior to installing the underlayment clear the roof of any debris of protrusions that could puncture the protective membrane. Installing roofing panels on uneven surfaces will cause deflection in the metal surface. Surface wave in the panel is not a cause for rejection of the material. Be sure each panel is fully engaged to the prior panel before it is fastened to the deck. Safety Follow all governmental safety procedures including but not limited to OSHA guidelines. Always wear work gloves, safety glasses, and fall protection when installing sheet metal roofing. Ventilation Proper ventilation needs to be determined to avoid moisture and heat build up in the attic space or between the layers of the building envelope. Consult your local building codes for measurements of Net Free Area required. Intake vs exhaust - To achieve maximum air flow through the attic the amount of intake at the eave needs to balance with the exhaust at the ridge Soffit vents are found on the underside of the eave overhang. These will be the primary intake source for replacement attic air. Ridge vents are located at the peak of the roof and are the primary exhaust outlet for the accumulated hot moist attic air. Upon completion of installation inspect the roof surface for metal shavings of loose materials. Remove by wiping with a soft cloth being careful not to scratch the painted surfaces. Remove any dirt with a damp rag and detergent if necessary. Maintenance Maintenance - Remove any debris that may accumulate on the roof to keep it moisture free. Tighten any loose fasteners or trim pieces as access will allow. Do not attempt to repair or replace any parts to the Matterhorn roof system with our consultation of a certified applicator. Repainting of the roof should not be required for the duration of the warranty. Estimating Matterhorn barrel tile roofing comes in pre-hemmed and notched panels. Cut offs and drops typically will not be usable since the installation will run in only one direction. This will cause overages in determining material usage. Consider the 18 by 48 coverage of each panel in determining needed material. Installation will always be from the right to the left side of the area being covered. Registration by mail with the warranty card is required to trigger coverage. See the warranty document for details.
