1 ARTICULATION AGREEMENT IN NURSING BETWEEN JAMESTOWN COMMUNITY COLLEGE AND CALIFORNIA UNIVERSITY OF PENNSYLVANIA (RN TO BSN PROGRAM) This agreement, dated this 21st day of January 2015, is made by and between, Jamestown Community College, located at 525 Falconer Street, PO Box 20, Jamestown, NY and hereinafter called JCC, and California University of Pennsylvania, located at 250 University Avenue, California, Pennsylvania and hereinafter called CAL U. JCC and CAL U acknowledge their shared mission to provide quality higher education programs, which meet the needs of the region and provide a workforce of highly trained residents. The primary purpose of this agreement is to enhance the transferability between JCC s Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree in Nursing and CAL U s Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree. A secondary purpose is to provide faculty and administration of both institutions with more precise guidelines for advising students interested in pursuing a BSN degree. Students who graduate from JCC with the AAS Nursing degree are guaranteed acceptance based on space availability into their choice of the traditional classroom BSN Nursing degree program or the accelerated online BSN Nursing degree program at CAL U provided such students meet CAL U s minimum admission requirements as stated in the current CAL U college catalog. They are also guaranteed the transfer of 60 credits (37 NUR credits any 30 NUR credits required for the AAS Nursing degree transfer as a block as NUR 162 Nursing Electives and any additional 7 credits required for the AAS Nursing degree transfer as Free Electives), 21 General Education/Required Related credits, and an additional 2 credits of Free Electives) as shown in Appendix A toward fulfillment of requirements for the BSN degree. Students can also choose to take up to 15 additional requirements for the BSN degree at JCC as described in Appendix B. Additionally, some students may receive up to 12 additional credits as determined on a case-by-case evaluation of their required portfolio by CAL U. Appendix C lists required nursing courses that must be taken with CAL U. Students who choose the traditional classroom program typically take courses over four semesters at CAL U. Students who choose the accelerated online program typically take courses over two semesters plus one summer with CAL U. Appendix D, consisting of two (2) pages, attached hereto and incorporated herein, outlines the courses necessary for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree from CAL U. This agreement does not exclude students from transferring to majors other than Nursing. Applicants applying to the RN to BSN program must currently be licensed as a registered nurse (RN), and must maintain this licensure throughout their time of enrollment at Cal U.

Residency Policy: To earn a California University of PA degree, 30 of the last 45 credits must be taken from Cal U. In addition, all first baccalaureate students will take at least 50% of credits required for the Major from a PASSHE university. The degree-granting University may require up to a maximum of 50% of the Major credits. This is in accordance with PASSHE s academic residency policy and related Board of Governors policies.
