1 Articulation Agreement Colleges: JAMESTOWN COMMUNITY COLLEGE and ALFRED STATE COLLEGE Jamestown, NY Alfred, NY Programs: Associate in Applied Science (AAS) and Bachelor of Science (BS) Nursing Nursing PURPOSE This document establishes a transfer articulation agreement between Jamestown Community College (JCC), with campuses in Jamestown and Olean, NY and Alfred State College (ASC), located in Alfred, NY. Its purpose is to afford JCC students the opportunity to pre-plan their college careers and to facilitate the transfer process for graduates of JCC s Associate in Applied Science (AAS) Nursing program to the Bachelor of Science (BS) Nursing program at ASC. ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION AND STANDING Admission to the BS Nursing program requires graduation from an associate degree nursing program and plans to secure licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) by completion of the first semester after matriculating at ASC. The minimum GPA requirement for admission is The applicant s coursework will include at least 30 credits of nursing, eight credits of anatomy and physiology, a course in microbiology (laboratory is not required), and coursework in written communication, psychology, human development, and sociology. Students who matriculated as JCC AAS Nursing majors prior to Fall 2011 should note that the microbiology course is an ASC requirement which must be taken in addition to JCC requirements which were in effect at that time for the AAS Nursing. Students who matriculated as JCC AAS Nursing majors in or after Fall 2011 should note that the sociology course is an ASC requirement which must be taken in addition to JCC requirements which went into effect in Fall 2011 for the AAS Nursing. Students who meet the requirements stated above are guaranteed admission into the BS Nursing program at ASC as well as full junior status. Students who do not meet all of the above criteria will be evaluated for acceptance on a case by case basis.

2 GENERAL GUARANTEE OF OPPORTUNITY TO GRADUATE For fall admits, students who graduate from JCC with an AAS Nursing, and who have met all acceptance criteria as specific in Appendix A, are guaranteed the opportunity to earn the BS Nursing with four additional semesters of normal coursework through ASC. TRANSFER AND GRADUATION INFORMATION The BS Nursing at ASC is an upper division completion program. Upon meeting acceptance criteria, students can transfer a maximum of 19 hours of additional lower level credit toward BS Nursing requirements, with the total maximum credits (lower & upper) transferred not to exceed 90. Appendix A provides a breakdown of JCC courses transferable for additional credit. ASC accepts transfer credit only, not course grades. Grades must be C or better for the credits to transfer. All candidates for the BS Nursing must complete 30 upper division credits at ASC. detailed overview of acceptance criteria and required subsequent academic credit. See Appendix A for a Graduation requirements to receive the BS Nursing include: Successful completion of all courses prescribed in the program 27 credit hours of upper level nursing course work A minimum of 45 total upper division credit hours 60 credits of liberals arts and sciences (inclusive of AAS and BS coursework) 18 credits of upper level liberal arts and sciences 1 credit in physical education 2.0 overall cumulative grade point average A minimum of a C grade in upper level nursing courses Completion of 7 of the 10 SUNY General Education categories FINANCIAL AID AND TUITION Students accepted into ASC under this agreement are eligible to participate in all ASC sponsored financial aid, grants, assistantships, and scholarship programs customarily open to transfer students. LOCATION / DELIVERY MODE Requisite courses in the major will be offered in a blended format primarily through asynchronous and/or synchronous on-line delivery. Courses have been designed for scheduling flexibility within a structured learning environment and, to the maximum extent possible, foster face-to-face relationships between and among the instructor and learners.

3 As a component of the outline, upper level nursing courses will usually require students to physically attend two classes in a traditional format. Conducted on the ASC campus, these sessions will generally be delivered on a weekend day, the first early in the semester and the second towards the end.
