3 Publicness developed in my PhD thesis on three squares located on the waterfront of the River Aura in Turku, Finland. Temporary lecturer, University of Turku, Finland two lectures taught in 2011 and one entire course to be taught in October/November 2012 as part of the Urban Studies program at the Faculty of Social Sciences. The course, entitled: From the Greek Agora to Facebook: How public are our public places? has been designed by me. In addition, I will be part of the course M4 Prospects for Baltic Sea Urban Areas, Baltic Sea Region Studies, Faculty of Humanities. Visiting academic, Estonian Academy of Arts (EKA), Tallinn, Estonia, Duties included teaching my public space course (see above) and one Research Methods course plus the supervision of two Masters theses. Project researcher, working on a collaborative endeavour between the Departments of Social Research, Geography and Business and Innovation, at the University of Turku, in Turku, Finland (July - December 2011). This research analysed new cultural centres developed in 15 European cities, in former industrial areas. The results are now being processed and will be published in Project Researcher for RIO (Recruitment and International Office), at the University of Glasgow, (April May 2010). This was concerned with analysing the performance of top UK Universities in order to attract international students for their taught programmes in the areas of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine. I have had no career breaks. MAJOR RESEARCH FUNDING AND ACADEMIC LEADERSHIP, STUDENT SUPERVISION Merit scholarships awarded for each of my four years of undergraduate studies by the Babes-Bolyai University, Cluj-Napoca, Romania. These have supported my accommodation and living costs during my Bachelor s degree. Research project competition won during my undergraduate studies in Romania, ( ). This was awarded for a personal project focused on the changes in the industrial economic performance of Romanian towns, during the transitional period from a socialist to a post-socialist regime. 4 MAJOR TEACHING DUTIES AND PEDAGOGICAL COMPETENCE Lecturer at the University of Turku, Turku, Finland and Estonian Academy of Arts, Tallinn, Estonia, (see above). Tutorial leader, at the University of Glasgow, Department of Urban Studies, both at undergraduate and Masters level. In this respect I have taught both Level 1 and Level 2 tutorials for the Public Policy degree (in and ) and tutorials for the Masters Programme: Changing Cities and Neighbourhoods, for three consecutive years (2008, 2009 and 2010). I have market exams, essays and Masters theses. Mentor, for two consecutive years in September 2009 and September 2010, as part of the induction session for the School of Social and Political Sciences, University of Glasgow. This involved delivering two seminars to over 60 students, in different groups, both British and international in a team with an undergraduate student to introduce them to the University of Glasgow student and academic life. I have attended two GTA (Graduate Training Assistant) courses in which I learned various skills necessary for dealing with difficult situations that may occur during teaching. I have also attended two training courses in the summer of 2009 to be a mentor. In addition, I am a teacher of English and Geography, for primary, secondary and high school level. The qualification was awarded in 2006 at the completion of my undergraduate degree. This involved undertaking 8 courses on teaching methodologies, one/semester during the four years of undergraduate studies.
