You will learn how to Program, will be introduced to the basic concepts of programming and how to solve standard programming problems. As you progress you will learn how to structure data to solve problems more effectively and easily, how to use software tools to help you program, and how to test and debug your software. The main programming language we use is Java. As well as programming, you will learn how computer systems work - including the hardware, operating systems and networks. In your final year you choose the areas that interest you. You will undertake a large project - usually this is about building a software application. The MSci Computer Science, BSc Computer Science, BSc Software Engineering and MEng Computing are now available with a Year in Industry. Preparation for the placement begins in the first year where support and guidance is provided to help you secure an appropriate paid placement.
