1 OverDrive ebooks for Step Tablets/Phones 1: ebooks for Tablets & Smartphones Installing the required Step 1: Installing the OverDrive Media ConsoleeBook app apps (iphone, (iphone, Tablet, Color) Windows 8 & 10) Tablet, Color, To begin, connect your tablet or smartphone to a wireless network. If you are at home: If you are in the library: Select a network and choose Connect. Select the LIBRARY network. If you see a lock symbol next to Connect, the Read the library s wireless use policy and Wi-Fi network requires a password, which you will have to enter. This password only needs to be entered one time. choose the I Agree button to connect to the library s free Wi-Fi. Install the free OverDrive app Visit your device s App Store (Apple), Play Store (Android), or Windows Store (Windows 8 and 10). Tap Search and search for OverDrive. The app will display in the search results. Tap OverDrive. The Info screen is displayed. Tap the Install button. Apple users will be prompted to enter an Apple ID Password. Android users, tap the Accept button. The app will install. A shortcut will appear on your home screen. Tap the app to begin. November

2 You will be prompted to sign in with an OverDrive account. First time users, tap Sign up. Enter your name, address, and create a password, then tap Sign Up. You can also sign up using your library card number. Once you sign up, you will be re-directed to the main page of the app. Note: You may be prompted to check your for a verification before continuing. Simply go to your inbox, open the from OverDrive, and follow the link to verify your account. *Note: If you're using a first generation you'll need to authorize your device with an Adobe ID to download EPUB ebooks. On the registration form that appears, fill in all fields. Create an Adobe ID using your address and password of your choice. Tap on Create at the bottom of the form. 3 After your device is registered with an OverDrive account, you will look for and save the library s digital site to complete the app setup. Tap the OverDrive menu button located in the top left-hand corner of the app. Then, tap Add a library Enter your zip code and tap Search. Tap Connetquot Public Library. On your tablet or phone, tap the OverDrive app. Tap the OverDrive menu button located in the top left-hand corner of the app. Then, tap Live-brary.com Downloads. Tap Sign in. Choose Connetquot Public Library from the drop down list and then enter the number from the back of your library card and tap Sign In. You may also wish to save your login information. choose the I Agree button to connect to the library s free Wi-Fi. November

5 Now, you will search for an ebook to checkout. Tap the Collections button to browse by category or use the search field to find a specific title or author. When you ve found an ebook or audiobook to read, tap Borrow. Go to your loans page, found under My account. You can read an ebook in various ways: Download a title to the OverDrive app or Read in your browser (see p. 7 for Read in your browser instructions). These options will differ depending on publisher restrictions. To Download to the app, tap Choose A Format. Select EPUB ebook. The ebook will begin to download. Tap the OverDrive menu button in the upper left-hand corner. Then, tap Bookshelf. CONNETQUOT PUBLIC LIBRARY November

6 Tap the ebook jacket to begin reading. TAP Tap or swipe to turn the pages. Tap the center of the page and then tap the text button: to adjust the fonts and other settings. TAP the center to bring up the menu Tap the center of the page and then tap the settings button: to change fonts and other settings. TAP on the right side to turn pages Returning an ebook from the OverDrive app (optional) Ebooks will expire automatically at the end of the loan period. However, if you wish to return a title early from the OverDrive app: Menu button Open the OverDrive app and tap the OverDrive menu button on the top left-hand corner. Then, tap Bookshelf. Long-tap on the ebook jacket you wish to return. Tap Return. Press and hold your finger on the ebook to long-tap Tap Return. Tap Yes. 7 Read in Your Browser Some titles are available in OverDrive READ format, which allows you to read an ebook in the web browser on your tablet or phone. You will need to set a bookmark on your browser to save the ebook for offline viewing. Tap Read Now. The ebook will open in the browser. Tap or swipe on the right side to turn the pages. Important! Set a Bookmark Tap the bookmark icon in the browser to save your ebook. Create a bookmark now so that you can access your ebook at a later time. Returning a Read in Your Browser ebook Ebooks will expire automatically at the end of the loan period. However, if you wish to return a Read in your Browser title early: Visit downloads.live-brary.com on the web browser and tap the My account button. Tap Loans.
