2 Network storage is a licensed feature and needs to be activated prior to setup. This guide provides the information required to create a new network storage location. A network storage location is used by the recorder to provide and automated backup of calls to a remote location. It does not cover filters, multiple export locations based on groups or importing network storage locations from multiple recorders. 1. Log on to the recorder. 2. From the top of the screen select the configuration icon. 3. This opens a new window with a number of blue icons on the screen and a number of tabs across the main window. 4. Select the Management tab. 5. Once selected, click on Network storage. 6. This opens the network storage page. Page 2 of 7

3 7. Select Filters 8. Then select configure against all other calls. 9. Tick the box marked Store all other calls. Page 3 of 7

6 1. Associated Filter: This refers to the filter created earlier (steps 7 to 11) 2. Operation Mode: This determines how the archived data will be stored on the NAS. A brief explanation is seen below describing the differences between Network Archive and Callstore extension. Most, but not all, NAS locations use Callstore extension. 3. Network Storage Name: This is only used as a reference and can be any name such as NAS storage or backup. 4. Network storage location: This is the location where the data is being archived to. This is in the form of a UNC path pointing to a shared folder that has read/write access. EG \\ \NAS \\servername\shared folder name 5. Account username: this is the username of the account that has access to the shared folder on the network being used above. This account has to have read/write access to the shared folder location. 6. Account password: this is the password for the above account. 7. Maximum Size: If the amount of space used by the network storage, then the limit can be set here. If the limit is set then do not select use all space (8). 8. Use all space: if selected, the network storage will use all the available space the recorder can see when the network storage was created. 9. Warn when current size reaches: This is not use if Use all space is selected (8). It is used in conjunction with the operation mode of Network archive. The network archive method of storage will stop archiving calls once it is full, and once the recorder can no longer archive calls it will stop recording until it can archive calls once more. Therefore, the recorder can raise an alarm to warn the user that the archive is becoming full. By default this level is set to 90% full. 10. Aged Call deletion: calls can automatically be deleted once they reach a certain age. This is activated if this box is selected. Once activated section 11 needs to be completed. 11. Max Call age: If the Aged call deletion facility is activated in section 10 above this section will become active. The number of months the calls wish to be kept for is entered her. Once a call exceeds this age it is deleted from the network storage. 12. Scheduled Transfer of Data: By default the recorder will transfer data to the network storage as each 15MB file is closed. However, this can be scheduled to be transferred at certain times during the day. To activate this facility select this box. 13. Start time/end Time: if the schedule transfer of data facility is activated in section 12 (above), then the times the data will be sent to the network storage location can be entered in this section. 14. If this facility is used it is advisable to allow enough time to transfer all of the backlogged data to the network storage. If not enough time is allocated then not all data will be transferred and slowly Page 6 of 7

7 accumulate on the recorder. Once the amount of un-archived data reaches 100% the recorder will stop recording. 15. Add/Reset/Back: once the above settings have been entered selecting Add will create the network storage. If no errors are encountered the recorder will automatically start to archive data to the network storage location. 16. If all of the above settings are correct, once BACK is selected the screen will revert to the first network storage calls page. It will now show the new network storage location created above. A. The name entered in box number 3 (network storage name) when creating the network storage. B. Status of the NAS. OK NAS online and working, Offline NAS offline, calls will not be exported. C. This shows the amount of space used by the NAS and a bar graph indicates how full the NAS location is. D. The calls section shows the number of calls stored in the NAS location and the date of the earliest and latest calls stored on the NAS. When a NAS is first created these figures will change as the calls are exported. The export process can take a while depending upon the size of the database. E. The mode is the type of mode used for the NAS as entered in box 2 (Operation mode) above. F. The type, by default is primary. If the NAS is set up as a backup NAS this while show BACKUP. G. This is the filter set in section 1 (associated filter) above. This is usually All other calls. H. If the NAS settings need to be altered then selecting Configure will show the settings section above. Page 7 of 7
