1 THE COLOR RUN Memphis RACE GUIDE Welcome to The Color Run Memphis! Thank you for joining us on this crazy running adventure. We have made this race guide to provide you with all the information you need to make your Color Run experience as FANTASTIC as possible! A couple important steps before we get started: Step One: If you haven t already, go like our Facebook page. Step Two: Read this whole document! You ll be glad you did! PACKET PICK-UP Packet Pick Up is where you ll come to get your race STUFF. You ll receive the following: t-shirt, race number, Color Run tattoo, your Color Runner headband, a wristband, and a bag of powder to throw at the post race party. The Color Run Store will be set up and we ll be selling some pretty cool items (Color Run hoodies, hats, socks, etc.) **In an effort to reduce waste please bring your own bag to put your gear in.** When and where you can find us for Packet Pick Up: Sports Authority 5895 Poplar Ave. Memphis, TN PACKET PICK UP TIMES - DAY 1 Thursday, October 11, 2012 at Sports Authority on Poplar 10AM-9PM DAY 2 Friday, October 12, 2012 at Sports Authority on Poplar 10AM - 5:00PM We STRONGLY encourage you to pick up your pack AT the packet pick up dates and locations. You CAN have someone else pick it up for you.you ll just need to make sure you send them with the signed Pick Up Waiver at the end of this document. If there are no other options, you can pick up your packet on race day, but you will need to be there early and be prepared to wait in line. Race day is CRAZY good crazy of course but we d hate to see you miss the pre-race fun standing in line trying to get your packet!

2 RACE DAY SCHEDULE OF EVENTS We are lucky enough to have this years event take place at the awesome Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium in Downtown Memphis. Please take a look at the map below to see where the race headquarters is roughly located ***HINT HINT, it is near the START/FINISH bubbles*** PLEASE ARRIVE AT THE FESTIVAL/START CHUTE NO EARLIER THAN 6:00AM ON SATURDAY MORNING!!! This should provide plenty of time for you to mingle, take before pictures, use the portable facilities, and hydrate before the race start window from 9:00AM - 10:00AM. Here is the race day timeline for October 13, 2012: 7:00AM - Race village opens for Color Runners. (You are like a kid on Christmas!) 8:30AM - Color Runners start to line up in the Glorious Start Chute of Destiny 9:00AM - 10:00AM - Memphis Color Run Start Window - YAY!! 9:30AM-11:45AM - Finish Festival at the Festival Area - MAKE SURE YOU SAVE YOUR COLOR PACKET FOR THE FINISH FESTIVAL!!! 12:00PM - The Color Run Memphis complete, magical Unicorn Pegasus returns from Memphis to her home in Valhalla and Color Run Family members return to their (now even more) colorful places of residence - BUT feel free to hang out and help us clean. ;) This is a map of the course for the run at The Liberty Bowl, study it, learn it, love it... delicious.

3 ***SIDE NOTE IN REGARDS TO WATER, AGUA, WASSER, etc. at both the festival and the water/aid station (shown in blue on the map above)... We use these REALLY awesome water dispensers for the Memphis race from a company called Event Water Solutions. Basically here is the deal... it s a water dispenser system that filters hydrant fed water into whatever you would like to dispense it. We will provide cups, but if you are looking for something more than just a couple of gulps FEEL FREE to bring a water bottle/camelback/bathtub/gallon jug and fill it at the festival or at the water station on course and drink to your hearts content! Don t say we didn t provide enough water... because at this race, it s all you can drink baby!! Just so you know the stations look like this... There will be 4 of them at the finish and 2 of them at the water/aid station. PLUS the water is filtered and chilled just for you!! DRINK UP!!!! STAY HYDRATED!!! RACE MORNING Arrive early. Allow plenty of time to get to the park & get prepped for start time. Make sure you have your race bib and wristband! They are your ticket into the run. You HAVE to have them in order to be on the course.. and we cannot give you another one if you leave them at home! So tape them to your forehead, roll them up in your running shoes, or pin them to your running shirt as soon as you get it! Oh and don t forget to wear white - it s more fun, we promise.

4 COLOR RUN PACKING LIST *Change of clothes *Change of shoes *Color Packet for the finish line *Garbage bags *Cash & Credit card *Towels (paper/cloth) *Sunscreen *Bandana *Sunglasses *Camera/Cell phone Weather We will do EVERYTHING in our power to hold The Color Run event as scheduled... however excessive wind or rain may cause us to modify or cancel the event. Runner safety is our highest priority. Stay tuned to your and the Memphis Color Run webpage all race week for updates from us regarding any race related news and weather conditions. Starting Line The start window is from 9:00AM - 10:00AM. Color Runners will gather at the starting line in waves of approximately 1,000-1,500 people. The announcer will begin calling runners to the start line about 30 minutes before the start time, with waves leaving about 5 minutes apart. The first wave will leave at 9:00AM. Once in your wave, gather according to running speed. Rabbits at the front and turtles at the back. Remember the event is not timed so there is no reason to go CRAZY jockeying for position. Take your time and enjoy The Color Run experience with your friends and family. Please make sure your bib number is attached and visible on the front of your shirt. This is how you will be identified as a Color Runner at the finish line and allowed past security at the start. Teams may run in a group or separately, it is completely up to your discretion. RACE DAY TRAVELING DIRECTIONS/TRANSPORTATION TIME TO CARPOOL & DRIVE GREEN!!! In order to reduce traffic and the number of cars near the race site, please carpool with as many people as possible. Time to bust out those minivans & SUVs and fill them with Color Runners! If you don t know how to get to The Liberty Bowl for The Color Run Memphis here is the address... THE LIBERTY BOWL MEMORIAL STADIUM 335 South Hollywood Street Memphis, TN Below you will see a rough outline of parking areas that will be available. ***REMEMBER THIS IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE SO PAY CLOSE ATTENTION WHEN ARRIVING AT THE SITE AND FOLLOW POSTED SIGNAGE AND PARKING ATTENDANTS WHO WILL DIRECT YOU TO THE APPROPRIATE SPOT. PLEASE WATCH OUT FOR FLAGS, TENTS, BARRICADE FENCING, SIGNS, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY PEDESTRIANS. :) *** Please reference the site map below for further information where you can look to park on race morning.

5 The ORANGE STRIPED AREAS are the areas where participants will be asked/directed to park on race day. The festival area is designated by RED in the map below. Again this is subject to change based on municipal/police/security needs so EXERCISE CAUTION WHEN ARRIVING ON SITE IN YOUR VEHICLE. PARKING You have received this which means you are registered to run the Happiest 5K on the Planet in Memphis. HOORAY!!! Parking at The Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium is easy if you follow the directions (if traveling by car) in the Race Day Traveling Directions/Transportation section. Once you arrive at the venue, there will be a parking control company helping us/you to maximize the space we have to park all of our FANTAST-A-RIFFIC Color Runners! Again, PLEASE be courteous and patient as people get parked and find their way to the race site. We aren t going to leave anyone behind, every Color Runner is important to us! (This is even more incentive to drive GREEN and carpool as much as possible!!)

6 Here are some things you should know: It is very important that our Color Runners obey all traffic laws and avoid parking where posted signage does not expressly allow. It is also important that Color Runners avoid parking along the Color Run Course. Otherwise, you might have a more Colorful car after the race than before!! :) Public transportation will be running the regular weekend routes so taking the bus and/or parking a few miles away is an option. Hey... more exercise, right!?!? IN SUMMARY... PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE be patient with the parking situation on race morning. :) Color run race village We have just a few rules to ensure that everyone has a FANTASTIC Color Run experience. -No alcohol is allowed at The Color Run. -If you are running with a stroller, please start at the back of the pack. -Be courteous to and aware of other Color Runners. -If you are running with small children, please watch and direct them through the race. -If you are concerned at all with any part of the Color experience, feel free to wear safety glasses, a bandana, or a dust mask. -Please follow the directions provided by race officials and volunteers. -Above all, please be courteous and respectful to everyone around you. 8 2012 The Color Run Memphis Pick Up Waiver ***You do not need to fill this out if you are picking up your OWN packet and you have identification with you!*** Color Runner Printed Name gender shirt size team name ALL ATHLETES MUST READ AND SIGN. PLEASE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE SIGNING THE ACKNOWLEDGMENT, WAIVER AND RELEASE FROM LIABILITY (AWRL). I acknowledge that a running event is a test of a person s physical and mental limits and it carries with it potential for death, serious injury, and property loss. I HEREBY ASSUME THE RISKS OF PARTICIPATING IN THE COLOR RUN. I certify that I am physically fit, have sufficiently trained for participation in this event, and have not been advised otherwise by a qualified health professional. I hereby take the following action for myself, my executors, administrators, heirs, next of kin, successors and assigns, or anyone else who might claim or sue on my behalf, and I expressly acknowledge that it is my intent to take these actions: (a) I AGREE to abide by the competitive rules adopted by The Color Run (b) I AGREE that prior to participating in an event, I will inspect the race course, facilities, equipment, and areas to be used and if I believe any to be unsafe I will advise the person supervising the event, activity, facility, or area; (c) WAIVE, RELEASE, AND DISCHARGE FROM ANY AND ALL CLAIMS, LOSSES, OR LIABILITIES FOR DEATH, PERSONALLY INJURY, PARTIAL OR PERMANENT DISABILITY, PROPERTY DAMAGE, MEDICAL OR HOSPITAL BILLS, THEFT OR DAMAGES OF ANY KIND, INCLUDING ECONOMIC LOSSES AND LOSS AND/OR STOLEN ITEMS, WHICH ARISE OUT OF OR RELATE TO MY PARTICIPATION IN, OR MY TRAVELING TO AND FROM THE EVENT, THE FOLLOWING PERSONS OR ENTITIES: The Color Run LLC sponsors, race directors, employees, event owners, volunteers, all states, cities, counties, or localities in which events or segments of events are held, and the officers, directors, employees, representatives, volunteers, and agents of any of the above even if such claims, losses, or liabilities are caused by the negligent acts or omissions of the persons I am hereby releasing or are caused by the negligent acts of any other person or entity; (d) I ACKNOWLEDGE that there will be traffic on the course route, and I ASSUME THE RISKS OF RUNNING AND PARTICIPATING IN THIS EVENT. I ALSO ASSUME ANY AND ALL OTHER RISKS associated with participating in this event including but not limited to falls, contact and/or crashes with other participants, effects of weather including heat and/or humidity, defective equipment, the condition of the roads and railroad crossings, water hazards, and any hazard that may be posed by spectators of volunteers all such risks being known and appreciated by me, and I further acknowledge that these risks include risks that may be the negligence of the persons or entities mentioned above in paragraph ( c ) or other persons or entities; (e) I AGREE NOT TO SUE ANY OF THE PERSONS OR ENTITIES MENTIONED ABOVE IN PARAGRAPH ( c ) for any of the claims, losses, or liabilities that I have waived, released or discharged herein; (f) I INDEMNIFY AND HOLD HARMLESS THE PERSONS AND ENTITIES MENTIONED IN PARAGRAPH ( c ) for any and all claims made or liabilities assessed against them as a result of (i) my actions or inaction s, (ii) the actions, inactions or negligence of others including those parties hereby indemnified; (iii) the conditions of the facilities, equipment, or areas where the event is being conducted; (iv) the Competitive Rules; or (v) any other harm caused by an occurrence related to the 2012 Color Run event; and (g) I GRANT PERMISSION for the use of my name and/or likeness relating to my participation in The Color Run event, and I waive all right to any future compensation to which I may otherwise be entitled as a result of the use of my likeness; (h) I UNDERSTAND and accept that my entry fee is non-refundable under any circumstance. 9 FOR PERSONS UNDER EIGHTEEN (18) YEARS OF AGE A PARENT OR LEGAL GUARDIAN MUST SIGN THE ABOVE AWRL AND COMPLETE THE FOLLOWING SECTION. The undersigned (parent/guardian) is the parent and natural or legal guardian of (minor s name) hereby acknowledges that he or she has executed the foregoing AWRL for and on behalf of the minor named herein. As the natural or legal guardian of such a minor, I hereby bind myself, the minor and our executors, administrators, heirs, next of kin, successors and assigns to the terms of the foregoing AWRL. I represent that I have the legal capacity and authority to act for and on the behalf of the minor named herein, and I agree to indemnify and hold harmless the persons or entities mentioned in the foregoing AWRL for any claims made of liabilities assessed against them as a result of any insufficiency of my legal capacity or authority to act for and on the behalf of the minor in the execution of the foregoing AWRL or in the execution of this Consent. I hereby authorize any licensed physician, emergency medical technician, hospital or other medical or health care facility ( Medical Provider ) to treat the minor named herein for the purpose of attempting to treat or relieve any injuries received by said minor arising out of or relating to The Color Run event. I authorize such Medical Provider to perform all procedures deemed medically advisable in attempting to treat or relieve such injuries. I consent to the administration of anesthesia as deemed advisable during the course of treatment. I realize and appreciate that there is a possibility of complications and unforeseen consequences in any medical treatment, and I assume and such risk for and on behalf of myself and said minor. I acknowledge that no warranty is being made as to the results of any medical treatment. NOTE: PARENT/GUARDIAN MUST ALSO SIGN AWRL ABOVE.
