2 Director s Welcome Contact me at john@academyofenglish.co.uk The Academy team Jess Fynn is responsible for programme direction and pedagogy at the Academy of English. Jess is a DELTA qualified teacher with over 11 years experience in the field and she has taught and trained in some of the most prestigious schools in the UK. Nicole Harrison is responsible for the welfare of all our students including operational aspects such as accommodation, transfers, medical care, social programmes and logistics. Nicole is a qualified Cardiac Nurse at Junior Sister level and mother of four children. I am delighted to welcome you once again to the Academy of English eguide. The purpose of our eguide is to help you promote our programme with confidence and knowledge. Through our Academy Partners brand we have placed students into boarding schools and worked with a number of schools and colleges across the UK. Through this work we saw an amazing opportunity to take over the fabulous Newland Park Campus in Chalfont St Giles. It s been a lot of hard work and I now look 10 years older but it means we have our own permanent year round Academy in the London countryside! We are also subletting the campus to other education providers and special interest groups. If you have group bookings for mini stay or English Language courses at any time of year, please get in touch with us, and we can pass your details on to our partner schools to arrange your programme for you. To build on the success of the Global Ambassador Programme we are adding a third class in Pelham House so we now can accept three students from each country. With only one student per country and only six students per class this remains the premier executive class young learner programme. I wish you the best of luck in your business and thank you for your interest in the Academy of English. Sonia Elliman writes and delivers our Techniques of Speech and Projection module. Sonia trained at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and has performed in film, stage and television roles including well known BBC programmes. Sonia is now mainly involved in voice and drama coaching in between annual appearances at the world famous Glyndebourne Opera Festival near Lewes. John Harrison

3 The Global Ambassador Programme has only one student per country and a maximum of six students per class. This is the executive class young learners programme and each student is truly an ambassador for their country. The programme features modules in creative thinking, advanced pronunciation, presentation skills and projects. John Harrison, Managing Director Grammar School A challenging start to the day in which our teachers focus on grammar development and comprehension through writing exercises and reading material. (Break) Language Building Through case studies and investigation our students English knowledge increases as they build a large vocabulary in listening and reading disciplines. (Lunch) Language Advancing Dialogue In this workshop we concentrate on native English conversation that can be taken home and used. This is an opportunity for students to build language that will demonstrate head-turning progress. (Break) The Techniques of Speech and Projection As well as presentation skills and we teach our students how to master correct pronunciation and communication techniques in social and public situations. (Break) Global Ambassador Programme Café Club As a more informal end to the day our students sit with teachers and fellow Ambassadors to discuss hobbies, culture, friendships, their country and other topics of interest in non-classroom environments.
