6 Page 6 of 19 Shared Half Day Secrets of Old Rio This is a unique walking tour which gives visitors a feeling for the legends and stories woven around the narrow streets and old historical buildings of downtown Rio. The walk includes a visit to many interesting points, such as the São Bento Monastery,, Praça XV, the "Travessa do Mercado", Imperial Palace ( Paço Imperial ), the cultural center located in the beautifully-restored Banco do Brasil, the Casa França-Brasil, Ouvidor Street and Gonçalves Dias Street with the traditional Colombo Coffee Shop. The walk continues on down Uruguaiana Street, Carioca Square, and up to the Metropolitan Cathedral where passengers will meet the transportation that will take them back to their hotels. 7 Page 7 of 19 Shared Full Day Corcovado + Sugar Loaf (L) Depart from the hotel after breakfast to visit the most famous landmarks of the city and see the natural beauty of Rio de Janeiro from up above. Over a million tourists each year visit the world famous Pão de Açúcar, (Sugar Loaf Mountain), which has become an iconic symbol of the city of Rio de Janeiro. Rising up from a small peninsula at the entrance of Guanabara Bay, its name is said to refer to its resemblance to the traditional shape of a concentrated, refined sugar loaf. The journey to the top is made in glass cable-cars. The first cable-car takes passengers to the top of Urca Hill, which rises 215 meters above sea level and offers spectacular views of the entire bay and its surrounding islands. From Urca Hill, passengers continue in a second cable-car to the top of Sugar Loaf which rises 395 meters above sea level and offers a 360 degree view of the entire city including Botafogo and Copacabana Beaches, Corcovado Mountain and downtown Rio de Janeiro. Afterwards, descend the mountain and stop for a delicious lunch. From there passengers will be taken to the bottom of the Corcovado Hill. Embark on a comfortable train that ascends the mountain, where the statue of Christ the Redeemer is located 2,300 ft above sea level. The Christ statue, known as the wonder of Rio, was recently elected one of the 7 "New Wonders of the World". Upon arrival at the top, guests can use the panoramic elevators or escalators to arrive at the foot of the statute. Our first stop is Frades (or Monk's) Island. Virtually uninhabited, the island is home to some of the best beaches in the bay. Here we have ample time to swim in the warm inviting waters, or relax in the sun or the shade, and where a cold drink is never far away! Then we continue our cruise to the larger Itaparica Island for lunch. The colonial town of Itaparica is just a short distance by local transport for those interested visiting this charming waterfront town (optional). We return to the schooner, raise anchor and set off for Salvador with the setting sun flooding the city with its warm glow. A short hike in the forest leads to the impressive entrance of the Cave. Inside the cave several kinds of speleothemes create a magic scenery with a deep blue lake in the bottom of the Cave. The duration of the trip is about 1h30m. After the end of the tour transfer back to Bonito and then heading to Sao Geraldo s Farm for a delicious lunch prepared with typical ingredients of the local food. Short break after lunch. At 02pm Snorkeling in Sucuri River: 500mts hiking along the margins and springs of the Sucuri River with several species of plants and birds. Possibility of seeing agoutis, capuchin monkeys and other animals that compose the rich wildlife of Bonito. After the hike, snorkeling about 1,24mi downstream in Sucuri River. Several species of fish can be seen, besides many other species of wonderful aquatic plants. Mask, snorkel and life vest are included. We will start our trip at the main avenue Alameda Bernardo O Higgins by visiting La Moneda, the Government Palace, where we will learn about thehistorical and current importance of this place. Following this, we will enjoy a walk through the pedestrian streets of Huérfanos and Ahumada, where the main commercial activity of the city is concentrated. Afterwards, we will visit the famous main square of the city called Plaza de Armas, which is surrounded by the Metropolitan Cathedral and other historical buildings. We will continue visiting the Santa Lucia hill, the mount upon which the Spanish founded Santiago in It is a lone steep rock, with many plants and an antique building rising steeply from the city below. Then, we will cross the Mapocho River to get to Bellavista, the cultural and artistic neighborhood of Santiago. Bellavista lies at the foot of the San Cristóbal Hill, the highest in town, in the middle of the Metropolitan Park.We will go up the hill to explore the surroundings while enjoying beautiful panoramic views of the city. Finally, we will visit Providencia with its top restaurants, elegant shops and modern high-rise buildings. After this amazing tour we will call it a day and return to the hotel.
