9 ABSTRAK Skripsi yang berjudul The Juvenile Delinquency in Nicholas Sparks Novel The Last Songini membahas tentang kenakalan-kenakalan remaja melalui karakter-karakter yang terdapat di dalam novel tersebut. Novel adalah sebuah karya prosa fiksi yang panjang, lebih panjang dari cerita pendek atau fiksi yang menengah panjang, yang disebut roman atau novel. Penulis memilih untuk menganalisis kenakalan remaja di novel ini karena di dalam novel ini terdapat beberapa kenakalan remaja yang sangat sering terjadi belakangan ini. Novel ini menceritakan tentang Ronnie Miller seorang gadis pemarah yang hidup terpisah dari ayahnya dikarenakan oleh perceraian kedua orangtuanya. Di dalam novel inidapatditemukantigakenakalan-kenakalanremaja yang pentinguntukdibahas. Dari novel inidapatdisimpulkanbahwakenakalankenakalanremajatersebutdiakibatkanolehrumahtangga yang tidakharmonis (perceraian). Dalam mengerjakan penelitian ini, penulis menggunakan metode penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. v

10 ABSTRACT The thesis entitled The Juvenile Delinquency in Nicholas Sparks Novel The Last Songis discuss about juvenile delinquencies through the characters in the novel. novel is an extended work of prose fiction, longer than a short story or a medium-length fiction, called a novelette or novella. The writer chooses to analyze the juvenile delinquencies in this novel because there are some juvenile delinquencies that happened these days. This novel tells a story about Ronnie Miller, a grumpy girl who lives apart from her father because of her parents divorce. In this novel, there are three juvenile delinquencies that are important to discussed. And from this novel, we can conclude that juvenile delinquencies are caused by a broken family (divorce). In analyzing this thesis, the writer uses qualitative descriptive method. vi
