1 Downloading EasyFarm from the internet These instructions will assist you in downloading the latest version of EasyFarm If you are downloading the program to a USB jump drive you will want to insert the jump drive into the USB port BEFORE beginning these steps. 1) Get on the internet with one of the following web browser programs. At least one these programs will be installed on your computer (Internet Explorer comes with Windows operating systems) 2) Go to Why would I download EasyFarm to a USB jump drive? Some users choose to keep their computers with financial records disconnected from the internet; this practice is completely fine but when updating the program another computer (with internet) will be needed to download the latest version. To update EasyFarm the program will need to be downloaded to the USB jump drive and physically brought to the computer without internet to complete the installation. a. If you don t see the page from Figure 2 then you probably used a search engine. In that case you will want to click on the first item listed (as shown in Figure 1) Click this one Notice this web address matches the indicated one above FIGURE 1 3) Next click on Support FIGURE 2

2 4) Next click Downloads Username: vertical Password: easy13 After clicking Downloads this login box will appear After entering the username and password click Log in (it may also say OK instead of Log in ) 5) Navigate to the bottom of the page and CLICK the file with the HIGHEST 4 DIGIT NUMBER (In this example the file EasyFarm msi is the file with the highest 4 digit number) What s the 4 digit number for? The 4 digit number that is part of the name of the EasyFarm program is its Release Number; every time we change the program it will add one to that number. If you want the latest release, pick the file with the highest 4 digit number.

3 6) If you are saving to a jump drive, click SAVE AS NOTE: This example is using Internet Explorer; the dialog windows will look different if you are using another type of web browser If you are installing EasyFarm onto the same computer that you are downloading it on, click RUN (Then skip step 7 after reading the About Security below) About Security If you chose RUN you will be presented with a security warning when the file is finished downloading. The look of these security warnings will vary based on your web browser. These are security safeguards built in by Windows and they can be overridden by the user. With any of these warnings you will always be able to RUN ANYWAY. These two examples are from Internet Explorer (Windows 7.) The warning above will load first. You will have to click Actions to see this window. In this window you can choose Run anyway to continue with installation. 7) (skip this step if you chose to Run the program) After clicking Save As a dialog window will open (figure 3.) In this window you will need to navigate to your jump drive. On the left side of the Save As window you can navigate to your jump drive quickly NOTE: In this example the USB jump drive is titled KINGSTON (K:) Your USB jump drive will probably have a different name and drive letter. 4 a. After navigating to the jump drive click SAVE b. The file will begin to download to the jump drive, after it s all completed you can remove the USB jump drive and take it to the computer that you want to install EasyFarm on. c. Put the jump drive into one of the USB ports on that computer. d. After inserting the jump drive open up your My Computer or Computer window To get to My Computer or Computer : 1) Click the Start menu located in the bottom left corner of your screen. 2) Located on the right side of the start menu will be an icon that says Computer (or My Computer in older versions of windows) Computer icon Start Menu e. After opening up the Computer or My Computer window you will want to navigate to your jump drive, locate the EasyFarm download file and double click it. Then it will begin to install, the next steps will take you through the installation process Computer or My Computer Window Jump Drive, double-click to enter EasyFarm file, double-click to start installation

5 8) Installation of EasyFarm a. After EasyFarm begins to install you will need to follow the prompts to complete the installation successfully. The first window will welcome you to the EasyFarm8 Setup Wizard Click Next to continue b. The next window will show you the folder where it will install the program files. Leave the text that is loaded in this box Click Next to continue

6 c. The final window will allow you to click Install to start the installation process Click Install to begin the installation process on your hard drive d. The program will go through its installation package while indicating the progress on the status bar The status bar will show the progress of the installation.

7 e. When the program is finished installing it will show this window. Click Finish to finish the installation 9) You will notice a new EasyFarm8 icon on your desktop; double-click it to open the program. Double-click the EasyFarm8 icon to open the program
