4 181 Series Telephone Intercom/Access Control System DoorKing's wireless adapter kit is designed to transfer Voice, PC Data and Video information from a 181 residential telephone intercom/access control system to a residence s home phone, home computer network system (new or existing) wirelessly. The wireless system has been pre-configured to interface with a home computer network system with Plug and Play functionality (computer network for 181 Access Plus ONL). This versatile wireless system can be setup for minimal system options now and be expanded in the future, as your needs may increase. The next page shows different system configurations that can be setup. After choosing a configuration that suits your needs, the remote and home adapter setup pages will show you what you will need for your chosen system configuration and how it is wired. Page 9 and 1 shows the Basic 181 programming required to get the wireless 181 system functioning and Basic resident operating information. See 181 Installation/Owner s manual and Access Plus programming software for complete programming and operating information. Adapter Cover emoval and Mounting Options Install the wireless adapters so the antennas face each other, in a location that is NOT surrounded by metal and is in free air as high as possible above the ground. emove Terminal Cover Main Secondary INDICATOS W PW LINK QUALIT INDICATOS W PW LINK QUALIT The wireless adapters MUST face each other. The LED indicators on back of the adapter will determine the signal strength. Hang on Screws Hang on a Wall Antenna Direction Mount on a Pole or Wall using the Box Bracket, L Bracket and 1/ EMT Connector Bottom Molded Plastic Bracket sits on top of box bracket edge. Twisted Pair (Voice ONL, Phone Programming) 1 Ports 3 4 Wired or Wireless PC Connection: Cat5 cable and router are Only required when using the 181 Access PLUS model for data and/or for all video applications. The Cat5 connection is Not required for Voice Only application. IMPOTANT: All 3 types of phone connections create a virtual telephone network, independent of any existing telephone service. There is NO connection with outside telephone lines so the bypass switch is not needed with the wireless adapter. #1 - At least a -line home phone system dedicating the unused Line to the 181. No outside phone service available. Phone Connection O # - Directly to a dedicated telephone base station. No outside phone service available. #3 - Directly to an O existing phone jack from the unused phone line in the home. Typically used when the resident is using a cell phone instead of a line for phone service. No outside phone service available. #1 # Demarcation Point PHONE Home Phone Connection Cordless Phone Base Station #3 Phone Jack emote phones throughout house. 11 181 Basic Programming The 181 wireless system has NO connection with outside telephone lines. Call Forward, Dialing Outside Phone Numbers and Modem Communication features are NOT available when using the 181 with the wireless adapter. For complete operating instructions, see the Installation/Owner s Manual for your chosen Programming for Voice Connection Master Code A 4-Digit master code must be programmed in the 181 before any programming can be performed. See the Installation/Owner s Manual for your chosen 181 if you are unfamiliar with this basic programming information. Phone Mode Programming Factory setting is 1 (Phone Mode). The wireless adapter WILL NOT function in the Intercom Mode and should not need to be re-programmed. Make sure step is 1 *. 1. Press * 6 and enter the MASTE CODE. [ * 6 (beep)]. Press 1 * for phone mode. [ 1 * (beep)] 3. Press # TOETHE to end. [ # (beeeeeep)] Call Forward Programming This needs to be programmed. There is NO factory setting for this. 181 Plus and 181 Access Plus ONL: 1. Press * 3 7 and enter the MASTE CODE. [ * 3 7 (beep)]. Press 1 * to always call forward. [ 1 * (beep)] 3. Press # TOETHE to end. [ # (beeeeeep)] 181 Classic ONL: 1. Press * 1 4 and enter the MASTE CODE. [ * 1 4 (beep)]. Press 1 * to enable call forward. [ 1 * (beep)] 3. Press # TOETHE to end. [ # (beeeeeep)] Call Forwarding Phone Number Programming ou must program a remote adapter to dial the house when the CALL button is pressed on the 181 by programming instead of a phone number. Note: - Calls the house, 1 - Calls remote #1, - Calls remote #, 3 - Calls remote #3. 1. Press * 1 and enter the MASTE CODE. [ * 1 (beep)]. Enter Call the House - zero (), then press *. [ * (beep)] 3. Press # TOETHE to end. [ # (beeeeeep)] Hang Up Tone Number Programming Not necessary for 181 Classic Factory setting is. e-program this only if you desire a different number. 1. Press * 1 7 and enter the MASTE CODE. [ * 1 7 (beep)]. Choose and enter the Hang up tone number (-9), then press *. [ _ * (beep)] 3. Press # TOETHE to end. Answer Incoming Call on X ings Note: Suggest setting this to 6 rings when using the wireless adapter. 1. Press * 1 8 and enter the MASTE CODE. [ * 1 8 (beep)]. Enter the number of rings (1-99), then press *. [ * (beep)] 3. Press # TOETHE to end. [ # (beeeeeep)] Answer Incoming Call - Enable / Disable Factory setting is (Disable). This setting MUST be ENABLED when using the wireless adapter. 1. Press * 1 5 and enter the MASTE CODE. [ * 1 5 (beep)]. Press * to Disable this feature O Press 1 * to Enable this feature. 12 our outer Connection The home wireless adapter will automatically connect to your router (plug-and-play). 181 Access Plus PC Connection Program section.3 in the 181 Access Plus Installation/Owner s Manual to connect your PC to the 181 Access Plus. Note: 181 Access Plus can also operate using a DDNS host service (specialized setup, contact DoorKing). BASIC ESIDENT OPEATIN INSTUCTIONS eceiving a call from the 181: Answer the phone to speak with your guest at the gate. ANT Access Dial 9 on your phone to OPEN gate. Note: Tone Open number functions: 9 Opens gate (Timer will close gate). 8 will HOLD Open gate indefinitely. Note: For complete operating instructions, see the Installation/Owner s Manual for your chosen will ELEASE gate that is being held open. (Hang Up tone number for 181 Classic ONL) 6 will HOLD Open gate for 1 HOU, then release gate. Then dial or # on your phone to disconnect. DEN Access 181 Plus/Access Plus: Dial on your phone (unless you have re-programmed the Hang Up tone number on previous page) to disconnect. 181 Classic: Dial 7 (elay 1) O 3 (elay ) on your phone to disconnect. Call to operate the 181 from your house phone, without receiving a call: The 181 can be operated at anytime by the resident s home phone, even when there is no one at the 181 to call the home phone. The Call Forward features MUST be programmed in (see system programming above). Dial 1 to call the first 181. It will connect after 6 rings. Note: Dial to call the second 181 when multiple 181s are installed. Dial 3 to call the third 181 when multiple 181s are installed. Dial 16 and then your four-digit master code. System will BEEP. (master code must be already programmed in). * Dial 9 to OPEN gate. (or use other Tone Open numbers to control gate, see above). Then dial on your phone (unless you have re-programmed the Hang Up tone number on previous page) to disconnect when using 181 Plus/Access Plus or Hang-Up when using 181 Classic. Note for 181 Classic ONL: There is only one-way communication when calling the 181 from the home phone. The home phone can speak to the 181, but the 181 cannot answer. The home phone will not hear anything from the 181. Program and Operate the 181 Access Plus from your PC: The Access Plus can be programmed and/or operated by your PC using DoorKing s software downloaded to your PC J-3-13

13 183 Series Telephone Entry System DoorKing's wireless adapter kit is designed for PC Data and Video (No Voice) from a 183 series telephone entry system to a computer network system (new or existing) wirelessly. The wireless system has been pre-configured to interface with a computer network system with Plug and Play functionality. The illustration on the next page shows the system configurations that can be setup. The following remote adapter and home (administrator) adapter setup pages will show you what you will need and how it is wired.
