9 COMMUNITIES NATIONAL DIVERSITY PARTNERS We engage and strengthen communities through partnerships, hands-on service and corporate social responsibility. Along with joining in many local partnerships, Cox is proud to have strong relationships with numerous national diversity groups that align with our values. 100 Black Men of America Cox partners with students in the 100 s Collegiate 100 program in chapters nationwide to host workshops focused on enhancing leadership and career readiness skills. Human Right Campaign (HRC) Cox supports Welcoming Schools, a program designed by the Human Rights Campaign to strengthen elementary schools approach to family diversity, gender stereotyping and bullying. League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) Cox actively promotes our broadband adoption program in partnership with LULAC. Our broadband adoption program offers discounted high-speed Internet service to low-income families with children who qualify for the National School Lunch Program. National Urban League (NUL) Cox offers support through public service announcements and employee volunteerism. Select markets work with NUL to deliver nonpartisan voter registration messaging on our TV and radio stations.
10 SUPPLIERS Cox forms mutually beneficial partnerships with diverse suppliers who offer high quality products or services. We encourage the use of qualified minority-owned, women-owned, and lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) businesses in our company-wide purchasing practices. To be considered a diverse supplier, the business must be at least 51% owned and operated by one or more minority groups, women and/or LGBT individuals. Minority groups include African-Americans, Hispanics, Asian and Pacific Islanders, Native Americans, Asian-Indian Americans and Alaskan natives. By developing mutually sustainable relationships with diverse suppliers, we develop new business opportunities and economic development for the communities we serve. Cox Companies spend an average of $300 million annually with diverse suppliers. Our businesses partner with organizations like National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC); Women s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC); National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC); and National Association of Minority Automobile Dealers (NAMAD), which gives us access to certified minority businesses across the country.
