1 McCarthy Care Center
2 Welcome We are honored to serve your loved one during their stay at McCarthy Care Center (MCC), the ideal place for hospice individuals who: Have been at home and need a short-term inpatient stay to address pain and symptom management issues Require a higher level of pain and symptom management than can be achieved at home A Home-Like Environment Our goal is to make you and your loved one feel respected and valued at this time of life. Feel free to bring in items to provide comfort to your loved one such as photos or other mementos. The Music Channel is provided in all rooms. We welcome all visitors, including pets, and have no limits on visiting hours. A children s room is available for our younger visitors. Two guests may spend the night. Light snacks are available for family members in the kitchen. You may take time to rest and relax, or take a moment to reflect or pray in the meditation room. All phone calls to your loved one go through our nurses station in order to minimize disruption. Wi-Fi access is available.
3 Exceptional Medical, Emotional and Spiritual Care and Support Patients have access to all of Hope Hospice s clinical team. Together we provide the services and support to help patients with serious illness maintain comfort, quality and dignity at the end of life. These include: A physician medical director Highly trained and compassionate registered nurses experienced in pain and symptom management Licensed social workers helping with logistical and emotional challenges Chaplains providing spiritual support with issues that arise during a terminal illness Hospice aides to help with personal care needs Volunteers specially trained to offer assistance to patients and their family Grief counselors who guide family members through the grieving process Chimes Death, like birth, is an important passage that needs to be recognized, regardless of culture or faith. When a death occurs, we ring a chime. As you listen to the chime, follow the sound as it fades, allowing yourself to be in the moment. The chime will be rung once at each end of the hallway. In order to identify the room in which the death has occurred, a small light will be placed by the door, reminding us of the death and those directly affected. If you have any questions or needs, please see a member of the MCC care team and we ll be happy to assist you. Our direct line is (508)
