Benedictine University Historical Overview Founded by the Benedictine monks of St. Procopius Abbey Established current Adult Accelerated Programs format Created the Margaret and Harold Moser College of Adult and Professional Studies Benedictine University is a private institution that has created a college, not just a department, within our University with the sole purpose of serving our adult students.
About Benedictine University Benedictine is one of Illinois oldest universities and has a rich tradition of excellence in education. The University has been repeatedly cited by several national publications as one of the Midwest s best colleges. The majority of our learning team faculty members are working professionals. Program faculty are student-centered, working professionals aligned with the business and academic community that effectively support the mission and the vision of our institution. These professionals include entrepreneurs, consultants, executives and managers, which requires being skilled and qualified experts within their respective fields of study. Our instructors are eager to share their knowledge and expertise with adult students. Business learning team programs are offered in two Chicago-area Learning Centers and in other off-site locations, making it easier to take classes near home or work for your convenience.
Who enrolls at Benedictine University? Adult students who: Follow a busy schedule; Are highly motivated to succeed; Need to quickly advance skills and knowledge; Consider themselves goal-directed; Value coursework that can be immediately applied in social and professional settings; Contribute to their studies with significant work/life experiences.
Benedictine University Adult Accelerated Undergraduate Business Learning Team Programs Associate of Arts in Business Administration (A.A.B.A) Bachelor of Arts Degree Completion Programs: Bachelor of Arts in Management (B.A.M) Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Leadership (B.A.O.L)
Learning Team Program Format: Evening Students focus on one course at a time in a blended format. Classes meet one night per week from 6:00-10:00 p.m. The night of the week remains static throughout the learning team calendar. A start-tofinish class calendar outlines your schedule and provides your program completion date. In addition to the classroom session, students complete a weekly asynchronous 4-hour session online through D2L (Desire2Learn). Classes are offered at our Moser Center in Naperville, our Bellwood Learning Center, or at one of our accessible off-site locations such as Tinley Park. Average class size is small, averaging a capacity of 22 students.
Learning Team Program Format: Weekend College Students focus on one course at a time in a blended format. Undergraduate Weekend College classes meet every other Saturday and Sunday from 8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. (quantitative classes meet 8:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m.). In addition to the weekend classroom session, students complete a weekly asynchronous 8-hour session online through D2L (Desire2Learn). Weekend College courses are offered at our Moser Center in Naperville. Average class size is small, averaging a capacity of 22 students.
Blended Format: D2L (Desire2Learn) Benedictine University uses blended learning by combining online classroom sessions with a face-to-face classroom environment. Blending the weekly in-class session with the weekly D2L session emphasizes interaction and participation both in and out of the classroom. The online session will be scheduled asynchronously. So that you may complete your weekly session at your convenience, there are no scheduled log-in times. Assignments will be submitted and discussions will be continued outside of class using Desire To Learn (D2L) to maximize student and instructor contact. Instructors will provide weekly expectations per course.
