16 BUSINESS MINORS Minors help develop skills in areas outside your major, giving you a competitive edge and adding value to your degree. At UIC Business, the minor goes past electives to give you a close-up view of a discipline outside of your chosen major. With six degrees and six minors to choose from, UIC Business gives you endless options to plan out the career path that best fits you. A Great Career Starts with a Great Business School. business.uic.edu/minors

17 Minor in Business Analytics Get ahead of Big Data. Business analytics focuses on the use of datadriven approaches for effective business decision making and management. This kind of analytical approach has become critical across business functions and can complement marketing, finance, and human resource management majors. Get ahead of the curve with Business Analytics. Minor in Business Operations Minor in Finance Minor in International Business Streamlining business operations, coordinating complex supply chains, and managing customer relations are critical success factors in business administration. The Business Operations minor trains students in any major to become leaders at their company or organization. Sitting on the outskirts of Chicago s Loop District, UIC Business has close connections to the Chicago Financial District, including the CME, who sponsors our Trading Training Lab. The finance minor introduces students to the principles of finance, applies these principles to analyzing several financial issues, and develops problem-solving and quantitative skills that are widely used in business. Only available to CBA undergraduates, the International Business Minor is a great option to get ahead in an increasingly competitive global marketplace. Supplemented with an international academic experience, this minor truly prepares students to be knowledgeable, well-rounded business leaders. Minor in Management Information Systems Information systems are transforming business management. They have become critical to performing almost every function of business. The Management Information Systems minor trains students in the software, tools, and systems that are widely used across business. Minor in Managerial Skills Effective management of people and projects is essential for private, public, and nonprofit organizations in all fields. Regardless of their major discipline, students who aspire to leadership roles in their work life will need strong managerial skills in order to advance. The Managerial Skills minor offers course work that puts students on the path to leadership and career success. business.uic.edu/minors

18 Intercollege Transfer Requirements The following guidelines list the minimum requirements to be considered for admission into the College of Business Administration. The College reserves the right to adjust admissions criteria based on space availability in the college. Minimum UIC GPA of 2.50 (A=4.0) and a cumulative GPA (UIC and Transfer) of 2.50 (A=4.0). Successful completion of one of our two required math courses Math 125 or Math 165 (Math 180). During times of high enrollment, priority will be given to students who have completed both Math courses. Absolutely no exceptions will be made to CBA Inter-college admission criteria. Some students do not currently meet our admission criteria, but plan to after the current semester. If you are in this situation, please submit your application and check the box labeled Hold for grades to be dispersed. Your application will be evaluated once the semester has ended and grades are in. You will be contacted shortly thereafter. Note: Admission will be based on your current records in the UIC student information system. Not reported grades (NR) and incomplete grades (I) must be removed prior to submitting this petition. Grades for transfer credit listed as in progress (IP) must be completed before you will be considered for admission to the CBA. The decision will be ed to your uic.edu account. Processing your application may take up to 6-8 weeks. Once admitted your enrollment in the CBA will be effective for the following semester. You must be an official student admitted to the College of Business Administration to receive a degree from the CBA. Completion of the curriculum does not grant you automatic admission to the College, nor does it make you eligible for a business degree. You must meet the admission requirements and be officially accepted to the CBA before your business degree can be awarded by UIC. Acceptance to the College of Business Administration is provisional, based on space availability and pending your academic performance this semester. Poor performance this term may result in cancellation of your acceptance to the CBA.
