Use these words to write a description of the detective you drew last week. Stretch and Challenge: Use your own verbs, adverbs and adjectives in your description. Complete the task below: Task 1: Find the verbs, adverbs and adjectives in the sentences. Underline the verbs in these sentences. 1.The girl walked across the drive. 2.The boy jogged towards the football pitch. 3. The woman turned away from the man. Underline the adverbs in these sentences.

Task 2: Create your own simple, compound and complex sentences, using the sentence parts. Stretch and Challenge: Create your own simple, compound and complex sentences about a detective.

5 Complete the task below: Remember: A simple sentence contains a subject, verb and object. For example: The man walked to the shop. A compound sentence contains a connective. For example: The man walked to the shop and bought some milk. A complex sentence has two parts. The dependent part would not make sense on its own. For example: The man walked to the shop, even though it was snowing. Task 1: Next to the sentence. Write if it is simple, compound or complex. 1.The girl ran to school. 2.The girl ran to school and found she was on time. 3. The girl ran to school, in the rain, to find she was late. 4, The boy walked to the cinema to see a film. 5. The boy walked to the cinema and his friend decided to go with him. 6. The boy walked to the cinema, even though he was late, to see the latest Transformers film. Task 2: Using the parts of sentences at the bottom of the next page: write one simple, one compound and one complex sentence.
