2 Do you want to discover and feed your professional creativity? Are you interested in using creative arts as an instrument in your workplace? Discover possible professional (non-)boundaries and sign up now for the Creativity and Art at Work exchange course at HAN University of Applied Sciences in Nijmegen, the Netherlands. In this exchange course (minor) you and your fellow students form an organisation called Head, Heart and Hands (HHH). The aim of Head, Heart and Hands is to stimulate the development and use of Artistic and Playful Media (e.g. music, drama and the visual arts) into social work and other work-related settings. You will work to demonstrate that you can become a valuable member of HHH. In classes and during a practical work placement you will play, explore and experiment with your creativity, resulting in new creative products or working methods which are practical, relevant and beneficial for (potential) users in diverse professional situations. During this creative process, you will discover many of your own strengths and weaknesses and you will supervise others in their use of Artistic and Playful Media. 3 Participants You are studying and want to deepen your knowledge about using Artistic and Playful Media in a professional setting. This exchange course will be of most benefit to you if it complements your study and/or your professional profile, is at an appropriate level and does not overlap with your major. You can be a student from outside the Social Studies domain, e.g. with a (para)medical, educational, technical or commercial background, for example. Admission and requirements You can communicate effectively in written and spoken English (B1) You can demonstrate an active affinity with Artistic and Playful Media (e.g. music, drama, the visual arts) Learning Outcomes After the course you: Understand the role of creative processes in developing a new and valuable product Can describe the contribution of Artistic and Playful Media in facilitating creative processes Have insight in your own creative strengths and weaknesses Have improved your competences in the pedagogic use of Artistic and Playful Media, in managing and providing work supervision, and you have more knowledge of using artistic and play-related activities Can describe how an organisation can be encouraged to become more creative and how to create synergy Are willing and able to experiment as an effective tool for innovation Can orient yourself, make contact and analyze situations Improved professionalism, designing skills (Artistic and Playful media), skills on working with and for people and skills concerning co-operation and collaboration

4 Course Content This creative course of 20 weeks is divided in two elements. During the first 10 weeks you will attend lectures, workshops, tutorials and other activities in which you learn more on Creativity Theory & Techniques (CTT) and Visual Arts, Music and Drama. You find out what a creative professional is and you will discover and experience your own creativity. The creativity within your head, heart and hands: it s all about passion. In the second 10 weeks of the course, you are going to experiment with and experience the boundaries of implementing creativity as a professional tool. Examples of products you can work on are making films, new working methods, a magazine or other creative work tools. The course will be scheduled between 8.45 and on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and consists of: Lectures Tutorials Workshops Good practices Presentations Practical work ECTS credits If you complete all aspects of the course, you will receive 30 ECTS credits.

5 Assessment During this exchange course your performance will be assessed in the following ways: Basic report and presentation on Artistic and Playful Media & Creative Theory Written exam on your personal creativity Report and presentation of your creative product and process and your contribution to HHH (including individual assessment) About HAN HAN University of Applied Sciences offers higher education of an outstanding quality within an inspiring, innovative, international environment. This exchange course is given at the Institute of Social Studies (ISS), which is located in Nijmegen. Study in Nijmegen, the Netherlands Nijmegen, or Novio Magus as it was known in Roman times, is the oldest town in the Netherlands. It has approximately 160,000 inhabitants and is surrounded by woodlands, castles and polders. Nijmegen is close to the German border and has excellent rail and road connections to all over the Netherlands and Europe. Nijmegen has a rich cultural life with museums, theatres, excellent sports facilities and a hip nightlife.

6 Exchange Student Accommodation Participants in exchange courses within the Faculty of Health and Social Studies can reserve a single room at Vossenveld Student Hall in Nijmegen. Vossenveld Student Hall is located in the southwest of the city, near the Maas-Waal canal. At this student complex, over 660 students have their own self-catering accommodation divided into floors of nine single rooms each. Each floor has a shared combined kitchen/living room, washing machine and toilets. The kitchen is equipped to meet basic needs, with a stove, an oven, pots, pans and utensils and a shared refrigerator. Your personal single room is furnished with a bed, closet, armchair, desk, chair and alarm clock, and has its own shower. Internet access (wired high-speed broadband glass fibre) is available. If you want to connect right away, be sure to bring an ADSL cable with you. General costs exchange course If you are a HAN student or exchange student, you do not have to pay any extra tuition fees for this exchange course. Literature will cost you a maximum of 50. You will be responsible for all travel and living expenses. International Experience For students from outside the Netherlands, this minor course will develop your personal competence in intercultural communication and cooperation. Living and working abroad will broaden your horizon and creates an open mind. Throughout the entire exchange course you will document and reflect on your own experiences and learning process. An experience you will never forget. Start dates The exchange course will start at the beginning of the 1st and 2nd semester.
