5 NLC is the 5 th and newest college of the Alamo Colleges NLC is also a satellite campus for San Antonio College (SAC) NLC is currently pursuing accreditation; therefore NLC students are not eligible for financial aid. Financial aid programs are available for students who are registered as San Antonio College (SAC) students attending classes at NLC.

9 OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS ARE NEEDED (must be sealed to be official) (FTIC) First-time In College students must provide a High School Transcript or GED scores OR Transfer Students must provide previous college transcripts. We do not need a high school transcript if student has college hours from an accredited college or university. Students must provide an official transcript prior to registering for classes.

10 What is TSI-Texas Success Initiative? TSI is a program, enacted by the Texas Legislature, designed to ensure that all students entering higher education be assessed in reading, writing and mathematics to determine students readiness to perform and enroll in freshman-level academic course work. Students who. have never attended college do not have test scores that exempt them or have no college-level coursework. must be assessed

11 Students may qualify for a TSI exemption based on the following criteria: Meet the minimum TAKS score of 2200 Math, 2200 English and 3 on Essay (Note: Test scores must not be more then 5yrs. old for TSI) Have a bachelor s degree or higher TSI WAIVED if: Enrolled in a Certificate Program of one year or less (level-one certificates). Placement testing is required.

12 All students are required to take the Accuplacer or TSI Alternative Test before enrolling in college level courses if the student has not taken or has not met the minimum scores on the following tests : ACT minimum composite score of 23; a minimum score of 17 in English and a 24 in Math SAT scores with a minimum score of 1070; a minimum score of 500 on each the verbal and the math THEA score of 1770 writing; 86 on the math; and 89 on the reading Note: All test scores must not be more than 3 years old for placement TRANSFER STUDENTS WITH CREDIT HOURS MAY BE REQUIRED TO SEE AN ADVISOR BEFORE TAKING ANY TEST

13 It is very important that students prepare for the Accuplacer Test. Testing is for placement purposes and will determine registration eligibility.
