But what have Christ Church done for Christmas this year? Well let s find out In this issue Christmas Anti-Bullying Meet the House captains Christingle Nativity Christmas Fayre Movember Football success Our choir sang beautifully at ASDA earlier this half term.we all enjoyed it and we loved every second. But we wouldn t have been able to do it without Mrs McDonald who has helped us all the way. The singers raised 88. For our Christmas performance of Primary School Christmas Musical this year, Year 5 took on the role of the performers and Year 4 became the choir in our fabulous Christmas production. Years 1,2,3 and 6 performed a dance to a different songs in costumes. Everyone was invited to our Christ Church Show, and it was a sell out crowd for both the afternoon and evening performances.

2 Editorial In this issue, I will introduce you to the school council and tell you about their important work supporting and developing our school community. If you need someone to talk to, and don t Anti-Bullying week Reported by Rhys Jones As you all may know a couple of weeks ago it was anti-bullying week and Joshua Smith and Thomas Wellings went around the school selling anti-bullying bands. For that week we were allowed to wear the bands to raise money for the school. Overall this project was an success and so we would just like to say feel able to talk with parents or teachers, there is a confidential helpline number you can call to help you t a l k t h r o u g h y o u r problems. Need to talk? Contact ChildLine anytime - calls are free and confidential THANK YOU! You may know that there are people who do get bullied and those people could be just like you. If you are bullied then do not be afraid, speak up and then an adult will sort it out for you. Even if you are not bullied then just wear those bands as proudly as you possibly can and support all children to feel included and valued.

3 Report by Jessica Billingham Our house captains This term I have been looking at our school s brilliant House Captains and how they do their job, what responsibilities they have and encouragement they give. I have spent some time with the House Captains to see what you need to do to become an outstanding Captain. Charley-Leigh Steane- Red Wing I encourage the children in our house by saying to try their best and don t give up which you need to do to get more house points. I do think I m a responsible leader because I try my best and never let people down. Chloe Jane Perry- Yellow Hammer I encourage my team-mates by telling them to try their best in lessons to help us get the trophy for Yellow Hammer. Joshua Smith- Blue Jay I encourage my house by inspiring people to work harder and earn house points. Maisie Cooper- Green Finch I encourage my team by saying well done if they earn us points so we can get closer to winning the trophy. I am a good leader because I can encourage people to earn points.

4 Christingle A report by Ellie-mae Debrowski We will be raising lots of money for the Children s Society during our Christingle service this year. They work with the most vulnerable and disadvantaged children our age all across the country. The fundraising takes place when we celebrate Christingle every year. Last year, our country raised 1 million for these children. This year, the Christingle service took place at Christ Church, Blakenall. It was a wonderful service that lets younger and older generations gather together to celebrate in a joyful way about the light of Jesus. Miss Kempson stated that Christingle is a truly magical service that can not fail to put you in a Christmassy mood. Our Christingle was hosted by Miss Kempson and Mr Davies. The children performed and the choir sang. It was the perfect way to finish for Christmas. For more information on the work of The Children s Society, visit

5 The Nativity Performance A report by one of our new reporters, Kavan Kular. Well done to our excellent reception and nursery s nativity performance. Everyone Want some winter wonderland fun this Christmas? Check out watching really enjoyed it. They sang the songs beautifully, especially away in a manger. The children looked fantastic with their costumes on. Chloe Perry, year 6, quoted, The Nursery and Reception children put on a really good performance. Our Joseph and Mary did a marvellous performance and so did the rest of the children. The parents show was attended by 170 people. The teachers would like to say a special thank you to all parents and carers who came to see the show, making a magical performance a very unique experience for all.

6 The Christmas Fayre Santa visits Reported on by one of our new reporters, Charley Leigh Steane On Friday 14th December the Friends of Christ Church held their first Christmas Fayre. This is Mr Davies first Christmas with us, so it was very special. The most popular stall was definitely the Tombola. You could hardly see the tables behind the crowds. I asked a few students what they thought: It s wonderful and great to see Hercules the Aston Villa Mascot, said Elliot in Year 6. The children of Reception and Nursery had a lovely time this week, when a special guest joined them for a party. Santa himself came to give presents to the children and ask them what they were hoping for. I got a present off Santa explained Lacey in Year 2. Even Santa had something to say. He said, the children are wonderful, very well behaved, fantastic! It was really great to see so many happy people all willing to help raise funds for our school.

7 Movember Report by Chloe Perry This year, all of the male teachers at Christ Church took part in Movember. Each and every one of them hated that the days went so slowly with the furry slug on their faces. The team raised through small donations for the charity that conducts research on treatments and preventions of Testicular Cancer. Sara Watson from Mullers Barber Shop bravely volunteered to shave off the men s moustaches live in front of all the school. Champions at last!!!! CONGRATULATIONS to the school football team who are WALSALL LEAGUE CHAMPIONS. Our sports clubs They have a place in the West Midlands Finals in January. Mr Baker runs every sport club.
