15 India Opportunity FDI in retail expected to trigger investment in back end infrastructure including cold chain Cold Chain Market is estimated >3million USD & growing at CAGR of 11% Food market experiencing 8% CAGR Growth in chilled segment and 17% in Frozen segment Adequate Technical talent available Familiarity in international markets to drive larger growth Current Domestic players are largely India Reliant 15
16 Growth Enabler
17 Synergy with other Institutions Indian agric Research Centers for produce protocols & ISHRAE, ASHRE for other critical areas International: GCCA for basic concepts & conditions through WFLO, IARW, IART. India member to IIR, Paris. GeorgiaTech Cold Chain Management & logistics Institute, Grimsby University, imeche Integration through Knowledge sharing and awareness by CII, FICCI etc. Economically viable technology solutions in terms of integrated cold chain for tropical fruits, and HRD.
18 Approach towards clean and sustainable technologies in India Green cold chains concept combining natural light, solar PV lights, reflective coatings, turbo ventilation, rain water harvest & water cycling being promoted Trends towards using ammonia for larger plants due to improved coefficient of performance than Freon Solar refrigeration promotion & keen interest of industry Other sources of energy like rice husk & straw, biological mass etc. find increased use for power generation Ammonia CO2 brine/cascade possible, & liquid air in the process of development will also find place in India, steadily.
