3 PC Protection Plus Quick Install Guide! Important! A valid subscription key and an Internet connection are required to install the software.! Important! This software will automatically uninstall other anti-virus, ad-ware, spyware, and/or firewall software. Please read and follow prompts closely to ensure proper installation of F-Secure SPC and removal of the other software packages.! Important! If F-Secure is installed on a computer with multiple user accounts (such as Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP, or Windows 2000), it must be installed on an account that has administrative rights. The new F-Secure PC Protection Plus includes advanced Parental Controls and everything needed to protect a computer against threats originating from the Internet: Anti-Virus, Firewall, Anti-Spyware, Anti-phishing, and Anti-spam. Easy Installation This guide will assist in the installation of F-Secure, as well as explain various functions and features. 3

4 1. Installation 1.1 Choose the language that F-Secure will be displayed as. Click the Next button. 1.2 Review the license agreement. Click the Accept button to accept the terms and the Decline button to decline the terms. Note: Clicking the Decline button will stop the installation. 4

5 1.3 Enter the subscription key that was assigned by the ISP provider. Click the Next button, to begin the installation. 1.4 Choose the type of installation to be installed. It is recommended that the automatic installation be selected, as it includes all of the security features. These features can be enabled or disabled at any time. Click the Next button to continue. Note: F-Secure will begin to install. This may take several minutes. Once the files are installed, click the Restart button to restart the computer and complete the installation process. 5

6 1.5 Once the computer has been restarted, F-Secure will validate the Subscription Key. Click the Next button. Note: The computer must be connected to the Internet for F-Secure to validate the Subscription Key. 6

7 1.6 Carefully read the Parental Control options and select the preferred. These settings can be modified or disabled as needed. Click the Next button to continue. 1.7 On the next window you can select the amount of time the user can browse. Click the Next button to continue. 7

8 1.8 You can now select the time of day that a user can browse. They can only use the Internet during this time, and only up to their daily allotment. Click the Next. 1.9 Create and enter a parental control password. Then click Next. Note: To change features you will be asked to enter your password. 8

9 1.10 Here you can set a hint for your password in case you forget it. Remember anyone that uses the computer can see the hint. Click Next to continue At this point you are finished setting up your basic parental control features. Click Finish. 9

10 1.12 The computer will now restart. When it comes back up, you will see a new window doing updates and finishing the installation. When all four steps are Done, click Close. 2. Changing the Activation Key 2.1 Click the Tasks button in the center of the window. 10

11 2.2 Click on My Subscription, then click Enter new subscription key from the drop-down menu. 2.3 Here you will need to enter your new subscription key. Once you enter the full key, the Register button will be clickable. Click the Register button to finish. 11

12 3. Scanning for Viruses 3.1 To Perform a Full System Scan: Click on Tasks Click on Scan, the from the drop down click on Full computer scan. 12

13 3.1.3 It will now begin scanning your entire computer If F-Secure finds any malicious software it will automatically remove or repair the problem. After it done scanning your computer, it will give you an option to look at the scan report. If you choose to not look at the report, Click "Close". 13

15 3.2.2 Change the setting as needed. Then click "Ok". 3.3 To Enable Scheduled Scanning Click on "Settings". 15

16 3.3.2 Click on the checkbox next to "Turn on scheduled scanning" After enabling the Scheduled Scanning option, choose the preferred options to scheduled how often and what day the schedule should automatically run. 16

17 3.3.4 Select the "Start Time" from the drop-down menu If preferred, F-Secure can be configured to run a scan after the computer has been idle for a specified period of time. To enable this feature, select the appropriate option from the drop-down menu Click the "Ok" button to finish. 17

18 5. Scanning scanning is included in "Real-Time Scanning". 5.2 Click "OK" to finish. 18

19 6. Parental Controls 6.1 Blocking Sites 6.1 Parental controls were configured during the last part of the installation, so I am going to show you how to block specific sites. Click "Settings". 19

20 6.1.2 Click on "Internet", then click on "Parental Control". You should now be on the screen below. Look towards the bottom and click on "View web site lists..." Click on "Denied", then click on "Add..." 20
