Wendover (West) (Back to map) View north east from the footpath by Ellesborough Road. HS2 route will run along an embankment up to 8 metres high, parallel to the bypass (in front of the large green buildings). Wendover (Back to map) Aylesbury A413 Wendover bypass View north across the Aylesbury Vale from Bacombe Hill. HS2 route will cross from the right of picture, parallel to the bypass before diverging to the west of Aylesbury.
Bacombe Lane (Back to map) Wendover Boddington Hill The Hale Viaduct View east from footpath linking Bacombe Lane and Bacombe Hill. HS2 route will pass across the Chiltern line and A413 on a viaduct that would be seen between the large building in the centre of the picture and the white house further up Bacombe Lane. Grove Farm, The Hale (Back to map) Boddington Hill King s Ash Grove Farm North easterly view from the footpath leading to Upper Bacombe with the Hale in the distance. HS2 viaduct will cross the Chiltern Line and A413 behind Grove Farm.
Cobbler s Hill Lane to Hartley Farm (Back to map) Cobbler s Hill Lane Dunsmore Little London Farms Hartley Farm View from North of the proposed route looking south west towards Upper and Lower Little London Farms. HS2 will cut through the group of trees (centre foreground) in a shallow cutting before emerging onto an embankment behind Hartley Farm and crossing a viaduct over the Chiltern Line and A413 (right of picture). Durham Farm (Back to map) Durham Farm A413 Upper Wendover Dean Farm Dunsmore Southerly view from footpath between Strawberryhill Cottage (King s Lane) and Durham Farm. HS2 will cross this view over the farm, on a viaduct up to 16.5m (54ft) high stretching from left of shot to the trees on the extreme right (middle of view). The viaduct will utterly dominate the landscape here. Beyond the obvious visual impact on the landscape, noise pollution will be significant here as 250mph trains cross the concrete viaduct.
Bowood Lane to Durham Farm (Back to map) Strawberrryhill Cottage Durham Farm Jones Hill Wood Bowood Lane Grim s Ditch Easterly view from footpath on the hill above Russell s Farm. Proposed route will cross on a viaduct over Durham Farm and enter a cutting through Jones Hill Wood, destroying a large part of this Ancient Woodland site. The route will cut through Bowood Lane destroying the thin band of trees beyond and then cutting through Grim s Ditch - a Scheduled Ancient Monument. Woodlands Park to Wendover Dean (Back to map) Durham Farm Jones Hill Grim s Ditch Easterly view from South Bucks Way near Cobbler s Hill Farm. Proposed route will cross the view from the left, first in a shallow cutting to the left of the foreground trees, then on a viaduct over Durham Farm before entering a long cutting through Jones Hill Wood (an Ancient Woodland) and Grim s Ditch (a Scheduled Ancient Monument).
Woodlands Park to Frith Hill (Back to map) Woodlands Park Grim s Ditch Leather Lane Havenfield Wood Frith Hill Easterly view from footpath near Coneybank Wood. Proposed route would pass along the ridge top in a cutting from Grim s Ditch through to the mouth of a green tunnel beyond the white house on Frith Hill.
Mantles Green Farm (Back to map) Old Amersham Cutting Land bridge Shardeloes Lake Shardeloes House South easterly view from the footpath below Ash Grove Plantation towards Shardeloes Park and Old Amersham. Proposed route will cut through the hillside in the foreground and under a land bridge spanning the small valley in the foreground. The route will immediately re-enter a deep cutting which will pass through the majority of the field in the centre and right foreground and the trees on the extreme right.
Shardeloes Park (Back to map) Cutting Tree to be felled Land bridge A413 dual carriageway Cutting View north east of the Repton designed landscape of Shardeloes Park, just down the slope from Shardeloes House. The proposed route will cut through the fields behind the A413 before crossing below a land bridge spanning the valley in the centre right of shot. The cutting sides will be clearly visible where they cut into the hillside.
