The location of resources influences economic activity and patterns of land use. The use of a resource depends on a nation s culture, values, access to technology, and governmental priorities as they change over time. Levels of economic development vary from country to country and from place to place within countries. Many criteria are used to assess the standard of living and quality of life. Availability of resources and technology influence economic development and quality of life.
