ORGANIZING BODY PETZL Distribution, a limited liability company with assets of Euros, registered at the RCS de Grenoble under n B , headquartered at Zone industrielle, Cidex 105A Crolles - France (hereinafter referred to as "The Organizing Body") will organize a sporting event called Petzl RopeTrip CONCEPT OF PETZL ROPETRIP 2016 The Petzl RopeTrip 2016 consists of a championship pitting 3-member teams against each other in the context of multiple sporting challenges requiring movement on ropes; these challenges may be team-based or individual, and may be timed or not. 3. DATE AND LOCATION OF PETZL ROPETRIP 2016 The Petzl RopeTrip 2016 will take place on April 1-3, 2016 at Petzl s new North America headquarters: 2929 Decker Lake Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah, USA The finals will be held at the Salt Lake City Public Library building; S, Salt Lake City, UT CONDITIONS FOR PARTICIPATION The Petzl RopeTrip 2016 is open to any person who is an adult, with the condition that they are a recognized and certified rope specialist, or with professional training in rope access, and that they are in a physical condition allowing them to work on ropes. Every participant must prove that they meet the conditions for access and aptitude by providing: - a copy of one piece of identification (Government issued I.D. card, passport, etc.) - a copy of rope specialist certification or certificate of rope access worker training or equivalent. -a copy of a medical certificate dated within one year and attached to this document, confirming fitness for rope access work or a statement by the participant certifying that they are fit for rope access work Registrations submitted without any one of the above documents will be refused. 5. REGISTRATION All registrations must be made in 3-member teams. The registration form and release can be downloaded at In the case of any incorrect, non-compliant or false statements, the Organizing Body reserves the right to refuse the registration. All registrations can be sent: - by to petzlropetrip@petzl.fr - by mail to: Petzl, Service promotion, ZI de Crolles, Cidex 105A, Crolles, France No registrations will be accepted at the Organizing Body's headquarters or on site at Petzl RopeTrip All registrations must be submitted by March 1, 2016 (one month before the start of the event). All registrations are subject to a payment of $70.00 USD per person, which covers the registration fee for the 2016 Petzl RopeTrip Challenge and Symposium, the bag containing an event T-shirt, lunch meal of Saturday, April 2, Sunday, April 3 and Monday April 4, Thursday evening dinner &

2 reception, Saturday night registration and festivities for the Climb Up Race and Sunday evening dinner & reception following the finals. All registrations and payments must be made before the 1st of March Please contact us by No registration will be accepted without payment. The Organizing Body reserves the right to close registration after 50 team registrations. In the case of registrations closing prior to March 1, 2016, the Organizing Body will make the announcement by all means at its disposal, notably at 6. ACCEPTING THE RULES The simple act of registering for the Petzl RopeTrip 2016 implies acceptance without limit or reservation of the rules in the present document (hereinafter "The Rules"). The Rules are contained in the present document, completed and/or modified by any appendices that the Organizing Body may decide to add, without incurring any liability and without any damages being claimed on the part of the Participants. 7. CONDITIONS FOR ACCESS TO CHALLENGES All participants must present themselves at the Petzl RopeTrip 2016 with the following equipment in good condition, and ready for inspection before being permitted to be used: - 1 full body harness with both fall arrest and work positioning attachment points, suitable for rope access work. It may be a combination of sit and chest components. ANSI Z359.1 or.11, CSA Z259.12, EN 361 or equivalent. - 1 self-braking descender ANSI Z359.4, CSA Z , EN C or equivalent with its locking carabiner (EN 362, ANSI Z359.1, CSA Z259.12) - 2 rope clamps (NFPA 1983, EN 567 or equivalent): 1 chest and 1 handled rope clamp, or 2 x handled rope clamps - 1 rope access backup device or mobile fall arrester (ANSI Z359.1 or.15, CSA Z , EN A or equivalent or EN or equivalent) with its lanyard if required and appropriate - A minimum of 1 double legged lanyard with its 2 locking carabiners (a.k.a. Cow s tails) (a triple lanyard for participants using 2 x handled rope clamps) - 1 suitable helmet for rope access work and in appropriate condition for inspection and use A participant not in possession of all of the above equipment shall, along with his team, be barred access to the challenges, and they shall in no case be permitted to participate in the competition. No refund of registration fees shall be issued. The use of a foot ascender is permitted. Each participant may use only one footloop, which may have several etrier-type steps, or be adjustable. In certain challenges, where a specific piece of equipment may be required it will be made available to participants by the Organizing Body. Each participant is required to ensure that every piece of his equipment meets current standards and is free of any flaws and in perfect working order, and that it has not been subject to any type or form of modification whatsoever. The jury reserves the express right to refuse access to any participant to any challenge if it considers the equipment to be inappropriate. Each participant is required to use the equipment with respect to practices and in conformity with its instructions for use. Each participant is alone responsible for the condition and use of his equipment. The Organizing Body reserves all rights to inspect any equipment at any time, but it

3 will not assume any responsibility for the safety of the equipment, and it can in no case be held liable in any way for damage to persons and/or property that is caused by any equipment used by participants or otherwise resulting from their participation in the event. As a mandatory condition of participation, all participants will be required to sign and agree to a comprehensive assumption of risk, liability release and photo release agreement ( Release Agreement ). The Release Agreement may be downloaded with the entry form at and it must be submitted with the registration. Incomplete registrations will be denied. 8. SEQUENCE OF CHALLENGES The Petzl RopeTrip 2016 will have two phases: - a qualification phase during which each team must complete four challenges - a final phase composed of a semi-final and final The design of the challenges circuit will be entrusted to specialists designated by the Organizing Body. Each challenge will take place under the scrutiny of a jury composed of a president, an evaluator and challenge judges (referees or timers). The composition of the jury will be communicated to participants prior to their performing the challenges. During each challenge, participants must respect the following general conditions. As well, other particular conditions may be imposed on them for certain challenges. In such a case, participants shall be advised before the challenge. Each team will have a limited time to complete each challenge, although the actual time for completing the challenge shall only be taken into account for timed challenges. The jury will require that participants respect the conditions and best practices as defined by the rope access profession in the context of each challenge. In the case of a violation by a team or any one of its members, the team shall be disqualified from the challenge. Further, the judges may at any moment stop a team or any one of its members if they feel that safety is compromised. An eliminatory fault committed by a team or any one of its members shall disqualify the team from the challenge. Progression on a rope: For challenges including progression on a rope, the following conditions must be respected, under penalty of disqualification. - participants must be attached to the working rope with an appropriate system from beginning to end of the challenge - a rope access backup or fall arrest system (e.g. ANSI Z359.1 or.15, CSA Z , EN A or EN 353-2) must be installed in conformity to its instructions for use, and must be maintained throughout the challenge Any team shall be disqualified if: - one of its members is found suspended solely by their backup system - one of its members is found suspended on a device in a way that does not conform to its instructions for use - one of its members is found suspended on a point not connected with the primary progression rope (e.g. a deviation) - one of its members is found attached in an unsafe manner

4 Any team shall be penalized 10 points, or 30 seconds in timed events, if one of its members is found suspended on an unlocked descender without holding the brake side of the rope. Rescue: For challenges where a team must reach and rescue a person, the following conditions must be respected under penalty of disqualification: The team must respect the principle of always having a minimum of a locked descender (e.g. tied off, handle in appropriate position, or knot below the descender) or two rope clamps on the first rope, and an appropriate backup on the second rope. The rescuer and casualty must be connected together either with a lanyard to an appropriate attachment point of the other, or with two smaller lanyards connected to each other. This connection is essential even when a convenience connection is used (e.g. linked carabiners). Any team shall also be disqualified from the challenge if: - the team or any one of its members cannot complete a maneuver without external assistance within the required time (given before the challenge) - the team or any one of its members puts themselves in danger to reach the casualty or is suspended solely on his safety rope Any team shall be penalized 10 points, or 30 seconds in timed events, if one of its members or the casualty is found suspended solely on an unlocked descender without holding the brake side of the rope. Hauling: Any team shall be penalized 10 points, or 30 seconds in timed events, if using: - An unlocked descender without holding the brake side of the rope - A releasable knot that is not tied off - A load-bearing carabiner that is unlocked Ranking and points: For each challenge, points shall be awarded by the jury, particularly for style, efficiency, and speed and technicality of maneuvers of the member(s) of each team in the performance of each challenge. For each challenge, teams will receive a relative ranking based on points obtained. For each challenge, points will be awarded according to the following table: Ranking Number of points Ranking Number of points

5 The general rankings for the qualification rounds will be determined by calculating the total of points awarded to each team. The four top-ranked teams will participate in the final phase. These four teams will proceed to the semi-finals, and the two top-ranked teams from this round will move forward to the final. In the final phase, teams will compete in a collective challenge as outlined in the following table: Semi-finals Final 1st place in general rankings 4th place in general rankings 2nd place in general rankings 3rd place in general rankings The ranking of the 2 top teams will be decided in the final. For all remaining teams, including the 2 eliminated during semi-finals, their ranking at the end of the qualifying rounds will serve as their general ranking. 9. AWARDS Prizes will be awarded after the final on Sunday evening, April 3, Participants must be present for the award ceremony. If all members of a team are absent, the team shall be disqualified and will not receive a prize. Their prize will be awarded to another team according to the rankings. 10. IMAGES OF PARTICIPANTS The participants expressly authorize the Organizing Body and its partners to take images of participants during the Petzl RopeTrip 2016, whether directly or indirectly, by any person designated by the Organizing Body and/or its partners, by any process or means. The participants authorize the Organizing Body and its partners to reproduce and present their images directly or indirectly, and to authorize their reproduction and presentation by a third party. This authorization is given worldwide, for the duration of 30 years from the closing of the Petzl RopeTrip 2016 by any process, for any process, any means and in any format or medium of communication known or unknown.

6 11. PERSONAL DATA The personal data of each person registered for the Petzl RopeTrip 2016 will be processed by Petzl Distribution. This data is for the purposes of managing registration and participation for Petzl RopeTrip 2016 by the Organizing Body. In conformity with Law n passed January 6,1978, and modified in 2004 regarding computing, files and freedoms, the participant has the right to access and rectify data that concerns him by writing to Petzl Distribution Zone Industrielle 105 A Crolles Cedex, France. Any participant may also, with legitimate motive, refuse the processing of data that concerns him. 12. RESPONSIBILITIES The Organizing Body reserves the right to modify, interrupt or cancel the Petzl RopeTrip 2016 or any one of the challenges in the case of a force majeure that would make it impossible to run or continue running the Petzl RopeTrip 2016 or any of the challenges in conformity with the stipulations of the Rules, without making it liable in any way in this regard and without any refund of registration fees or damages being claimed on the part of the Participants. In the unlikely event of the necessity of such a modification, interruption or cancellation, the Organizing Body commits to informing the participants of it. 13. INSURANCE The Organizing Body has taken out civil liability insurance covering the consequences of its civil liability as organizer of Petzl RopeTrip 2016, and that of its employees. This insurance does not cover participants. Participants in the Petzl RopeTrip 2016 take part under their own exclusive responsibility, and must be personally insured (civil responsibility and personal accident). The participants renounce any action against the Organizing Body and certain other persons and organizations, and must sign a comprehensive release of liability as a condition of entry.
