1 BSB Undergraduate Learning Goals LG1: Ethical responsibilities: Our graduates will be able to recognize ethical issues and dilemmas and be able to make ethically based decisions and recommendations. Objective 1.1: Our graduates can recognize and analyze ethical issues and/or dilemmas. LG2: Globalization and multicultural understanding: Our graduates will have a working knowledge of the global economy and business cultures. Objective 2.1: Our graduates recognize and analyze global business and cultural issues and provide business solutions. LG3: Communication and professional skills: Our graduates will be effective communicators and will have professional interpersonal skills. Objective 3.1: Our graduates communicate effectively and professionally in business writing. Objective 3.2: Our graduates communicate effectively and professionally in oral business presentations. Objective 3.3: Our graduates demonstrate professional interpersonal skills and a professional demeanor. LG4: Analytical thinking and reasoning skills: Our graduates will be able to use analytical thinking and reasoning skills to solve problems and make decisions and recommendations. Objective 4.1: Our graduates demonstrate analytical thinking skills. Objective 4.2: Our graduates demonstrate quantitative reasoning as a tool for solving business problems. LG5: Content knowledge: Our graduates will learn the business core and respective concentration content knowledge and will be able to apply that knowledge in their respective concentrations.

2 Learning Goal 1: Ethical Responsibilities Learning goal 1: Ethical responsibilities: Our graduates will be able to recognize ethical issues and dilemmas and be able to make ethically based decisions and recommendations. Learning objective 1.1: Our graduates can recognize and analyze ethical issues and/or dilemmas. Ethics Rubric Recognition Describes the dilemma(s) in detail, pertinent facts. Indicates why the issue is an ethical dilemma. Identifies the stakeholders positions on the dilemma. Identifies applicable laws and policies germane to the dilemma. Analysis Selects the appropriate ethical framework(s) to analyze the situation(s). Applies the ethical framework to analyze alternatives and their respective (near and longterm) consequences. Develops recommendations to preclude the reoccurrence of the dilemma. Actions/Implementation Students understand his/her rights and methods for reporting ethical dilemmas. Students know the organizational methods/mechanisms for reporting unethical behavior. Revised 1/25/2013

Globalization and multicultural Recognition Articulates the impact of globalization on various business issues. Understands major cultural norms and practices and recognizes diversity and multiculturalism. Understands applicable global issues such as political, legal, regulatory and economic systems as well as historical and religious contexts Analysis Identify factors such as economic, political, legal, regulatory systems, historical contexts and religious contexts germane to the business situation. Analyze applicable to generate alternative solutions. Actions/Implementation Recommend business solution incorporating relevant global knowledge. Revised 5/30/2014

4 Objective 3.1: Written Communication Goal 3: Communication and professional skills: Our graduates will be effective communicators and will have professional interpersonal skills. Objective 3.1: Our graduates communicate effectively and professionally in business writing. Written Communication Organization of Ideas and Content Main idea clearly stated Includes a clear introduction and conclusion. Facts, analysis, and conclusions are internally consistent. Includes proper citations where appropriate Organization and Style Language and style is appropriate to the intended audience. Organizes (appropriate use of paragraph and section transitions) the writing to the readers needs. Free of jargon and clichés. Mechanics Grammatically correct. Correct punctuation. Correct person/verb agreement. Correct spelling. Active voice. Correct parts of speech, consistent tense, and appropriate expression. Appropriate sentence structure (avoids run-on sentences, repetitive simple sentences, incomplete sentences and sentence fragments).

5 Objective 3.2: Oral Presentation Skills BSB Undergraduate Goal 3: Communication and professional skills: Our graduates will be effective communicators and will have professional interpersonal skills. Objective 3.2: Our graduates communicate effectively and professionally in oral business presentations. Oral Presentation CONTENT THE SPEAKER Clearly and briefly states the key issues that will be covered during the presentation. Presents comprehensive and accurate factual details and/or analyses that fully explore the key issues. Presents content in a clear and logical order so the audience can follow the line of reasoning. Provides full attribution to all sources of information. Re-emphasizes the main points at the end of the presentation with clarity and enthusiasm. Ensures that any distributed written material (i.e., bibliographies, news articles, etc.), are properly cited, readable and error-free. VISUAL AIDS THE SPEAKER Displays material that effectively highlights and/or illustrates only important main ideas and avoids minor details. Displays text, photographs, charts, tables or drawings that are attractive, easy to understand, error-free and large enough to be seen by all. Ensures that handouts (when intended as visual aids), the above standards. Page 1 of 2

6 Oral Presentation DELIVERY THE SPEAKER Speaks clearly and loudly enough for all in the audience to hear and uses a vocal style that is properly paced. Allows his/her body to move naturally without appearing stiff. Keeps verbal fillers (um, uh, etc.) to a minimum. Avoids the use of slang words. Is dressed professionally. Adheres to time constraints. Looks directly at the audience members for most of the presentation and avoids reading notes. Demonstrates enthusiasm for the subject matter. (For Team presentations): Creates smooth transitions between presenters. Demonstrates both willingness and ability to answer questions. Demonstrates ability to use available technology (i.e., computer, video, projection, etc.). Page 2 of 2
