1 Searching for and Buying e-books for Your ipad or Mac Basic requirements for buying and enjoying Legal Tenor: Voices from Singapore s Legal History ( ) Users must have the following: 1. A qualifying itunes account 2. Apple devices: a. ipad 3 and above (recommended) with at least 350Mb of free space available running ios 6.0 and above [ipad Mini experience may be less enjoyable] b. any Mac with at least 350Mb free space available running OS X Mavericks 3. Fast internet connection, 20Mbps and above (recommended) [Note: Downloading through 3G or LTE may incur data charges. Please check your telco rates.] Before you can read e-books on your ipad, you have to download the ibooks app and use it to buy e-books or other publications from the ibooks Store. ibooks is Apple s free e-book reader that you can download from itunes. [Note: you can run ibooks on any Mac running OS X Mavericks.] For ipad users Searching for our e-book in ibooks Store With the ibooks app installed, you can purchase Legal Tenor: Voices from Singapore s Legal History ( ) by tapping on the ibooks app icon to launch it. The ibooks library launches as shown below. You will see a bookshelf with your library of titles. If you are launching ibooks for the first time, you would probably have only one free e-book on display. To search for our e-book in the ibooks Store, tap the Store button. User s Guide Page 1

3 In the ibooks Store, perform the followingg steps to find our e-book: Tap the Search field and with the pop-up keyboard, type t Legal Tenor: Voices. If many search results are returned, scrolll right or left to view the suggested titles. Buying our e-book If you have a valid itunes account with a qualifying country, you y can purchase Legal Tenor: Voices from Singapore s Legal History ( ). 4 The Price button changes to a Buy Book button as shown below.. Tap on the Buy Book button. Enter the password to your Apple ID and tap OK. The e-book will download to your bookshelf. 5 Searching for our e-book For Mac users Launch the ibooks app for the Mac and click on the ibooks Store button. You will be brought to the ibooks Store as shown below. User s Guide Page 5

6 In the ibooks Store, perform the following steps to find our e-book: In the Search field, type Legal Tenor: Voices. If many search results are returned, scroll right or left to view the suggested titles. Buying our e-book If you have a valid itunes account with a qualifying country, you can purchase Legal Tenor: Voices from Singapore s Legal History ( ). User s Guide Page 6

7 When you find our e-book in the ibooks Store, click on the Buy Book button to purchase. Enter the password to your Apple ID and click OK. The e-book will download to your bookshelf. 9 Given that the e-book is packed with audio and images, please be patient when flipping through the pages. Older ipads/macs may be slower in loading pages. Whilst all attempts have been made to improve the audio clips, some clips will sound muted due to the quality of the original source file.
