1 Royalty Moorings 2016/2017 A guide to moorings and dry berth facilities
2 Royalty Moorings Christchurch Harbour is set midway between the Solent and Poole Harbour and provides easy access to one of the most popular areas for boating on the south coast. The harbour offers practical and picturesque moorings for small to medium-sized craft. The Royalty Moorings reach down from the River Avon and Stour and cover approximately three-quarters of the Harbour. Within this area, there is a range of moorings from bankside and pontoon moorings in the river, to self laid swinging moorings in the harbour. Draught restrictions of a metre or less allow only small and medium sized craft to use the harbour. All craft, which moor in the harbour, must be able to rest on the bottom at low tide. The moorings are let on a metre encroachment basis over the bed of the river. All lets run from 1 April to 31 March. As is standard practice, all craft must have third party personal liability insurance for not less than 2,000,000. If you decide to take up a mooring, we ask that all mooring warps and chains are kept in a good state of repair and that adequate fendering is used. We also recommend that valuable equipment is not left on board when unmanned. Payments Payment for moorings must be made annually in advance unless you elect to pay by Direct Debit. This allows you to spread the cost of your mooring. The Waterloo Compound The compound consists of 52 dry storage docks and approximately 10 pontoon moorings. There is also a slipway, which allows easy access to the River Avon and the harbour. The site is fully enclosed with key access only. Local CCTV has also helped to increase the security of the site making the compound a practical and relatively safe place to keep a boat.

Excess speed can cause excessive wash which can cause damage and even safety risks. Please take care. Christchurch Harbour Association This is a voluntary organisation responsible for efficient buoyage of the harbour and its entrance. The association is non-profit making and is funded by the major user groups of which we are the largest. Funding is based on a set fee for each moored craft. The Association is run through a voluntary committee who provide an excellent service to all boat owners within the harbour. Our thanks go to them. Christchurch Harbour Watch This is a voluntary organisation, responsible for safety and security on the water. Regrettably thefts do occur and the aim is to foster a responsible attitude of boat owners towards their equipment. We cannot stress too highly how important it is for boats and equipment to be properly secured and locked. The Harbour Watch is an active organisation. Be a good neighbour and report any suspicious or antisocial activity. Waiting lists for moorings There is a demand for moorings which is in excess of the number of moorings available. We try to ensure 100% occupancy of moorings throughout the year. We also have a waiting list for potential mooring holders which is offered on a strict first come first served basis. There is an administration charge of 85 to go on the waiting list. Fishing in the Lower Stour and Harbour If fishing from your boat, you will require a licence. This can be obtained from us. Wildlife sensitive areas There are a number of wildlife sensitive areas within the harbour which are off limits to boats. Please observe these.
