2 Welcome to v1.32 of RM Unify The next release of RM Unify is here and whilst we have largely been focussing on some big new features that will be made available in the next couple of releases, we have also improved the Create Tile functionality to enable you to create links to School hosted (or local ) resources. This document will fill you in on the change associated with the release, linked to a complementary blog available for viewing in the usual place: Release Headlines 1. Create Link Tiles to Local Resources Alongside the great range of full apps on offer, to date one of the most utilised features in RM Unify is the Create Tile functionality, allowing you to create simple Link Tiles to any online resource. RM Unify Premium customers can create an unlimited number of these handy links, cementing RM Unify as the point of entry to your Schools online world. We recognise that a Schools transition to Cloud services is often a phased one, and hence we have implemented an improvement to this functionality that widens its applicability, aids Schools in utilising locally based resources alongside online resources, and further cements RM Unify as the entry point to all School resources. The improvement is best articulated through a recap on the process for creating any Link Tile. Start by heading to the App Library and clicking the Create Tile button. Figure 1.1: The screens for creating a Link Tile are easily accessed from the App Library Upon clicking this a preview of a tile is presented, along with the fields required to create it. Enter a title, subtitle, description and address (which is where the tile will go when clicked) of your choice. The change for this release is that the address can be any http or ftp, online or local 1. 4 If you have entered a valid online http you will have the option to Generate Thumbnail, which dynamically pulls a snapshot of that URL and inserts it as your tile image. Figure 1.3: Generating a thumbnail is a great way to get your online tiles created quickly Alternatively you can choose to Upload Image, giving you the option to upload any image up to 50kb in size. A great option if you want your tile to be represented by for example the School logo, a reference to a subject or topic, or a brand. Your uploaded image will be resized to fit in the tile shown on the left. An image with an approximate aspect ratio of 3 by 2 will provide the best result, reflecting the size of the tile itself. Simply click Browse, select your image, and then click Upload. Figure 1.4: Uploading in image is a great way to give your users an indication of the content they can access, and in the process add colour and personalisation to your Launch Pads When you have generated a thumbnail or uploaded an image, you should be ready to click OK and finish the creation process. The final step then is to choose what Launch Pads you want your tile to appear on, a screen that is accessible at anytime from the App Library but also presented for convenience right after you have created the tile. You first choose which roles to install the app for (more relevant to services that involve flow data and provisioning), and then separately choose which Launch Pads the app will be visible on.
