3 Sex vs. Gender Sex = male or female Gender = boy or girl We are born with a clearly defined biological sex, but learn through socialization how to perform our gender

4 Biological Differences Estrogen vstestosterone Testosterone - body hair, deeper voice, more muscle and less body fat (metabolism) Cardiac Men have more red blood cells (40% more oxygen in their blood stream); lungs larger Men have larger livers and enzymes Men can hold their drink and women can t Women are born with about 3 million eggs; diminishes to 400,000 at puberty and continues to dwindle until menopause Men are not born with any sex cells. At puberty men begin producing sperm each time your heart beats a man produces 1,000 sperm. Do you think this explains anything about different attitudes toward sex in men and women???
