The Saturday School & the Primary Tuition Groups are a family run organisation whose proprietors are committed to providing a service of the very highest quality in the field of junior and primary education. Unlike many of our competitors, who either fall into the category of being a franchise of a much larger impersonal organisation, or one that simply hires students to carry out the tuition offered, business is based merely on the numbers game. Ultimately, large advertisements and glossy brochures count for very little. We, however, offer nothing less than a firm commitment to standards of the highest excellence. This philosophy has enabled us to win not only the Bexley Business in 1995 but also the much coveted Solotec in 1996 (awarded to the proprietors by TV Celebrity and ex-editor of the Times Newspaper Mr. Andrew Neill). No other organisation offering tuition can make a similar claim. It is our firm belief there is no comparable service in London or the Southeast. 3 Frequently Asked Questions Q. My child is having difficulty keeping pace with other children in the class. How can you help? A. Before any child is accepted for either the Saturday School or the Primary Tuition Groups we assess them beforehand. We can then use the information gained to group them according to their ability. The child is then gently stretched on a weekly basis from the point determined by the assessment. Q. I have a child that lacks confidence and has a low level of selfesteem. How would you address this problem? A. We place great emphasis on confidence boosting within a learning environment. As confidence cannot be taught it must be nurtured. We endeavour to create the right conditions to achieve this aim: small groups, all children ability matched, children given constant praise and positive feed-back. Q. My child is often frightened to have a go whilst at school. A. This is generally brought about by peer pressure. The belief that to have a go and get something wrong is to leave oneself open to ridicule from classmates. Most children in our experience have the ability but lack the confidence to bring that ability to the fore. There are three golden rules to bear in mind: 1) It is alright not to know the answer - we cannot understand anything until we have been taught it. 2) It is alright to forget something - in time it will be remembered. 3) It is alright to make mistakes - as long as you are able to move forward and correct them. Q. My child is very bright, but who isn t getting stretched at school. The result is often boredom and frustration. How can you alleviate this situation? A. Again, by grouping the child according to his/her ability and then by stretching them on a weekly basis from the point that has been determined by the assessment. Q. My child is weak in maths but is ahead in English. How would they fare at the Primary Tuition Groups? A. By being placed in separate groups for each. Once again each group is catering for the child s needs. How do we compare with our competitors? Ours is the only organisation to win two awards for the services it offers. Ours is the only organisation to offer a structured scheme of work that is tailor-made to suit each child s individual requirements. Ours is the only organisation to use fully qualified teachers throughout. Some organisations use A-level students - purely because they are a lot cheaper to hire. Includes 5% discount per year Year 5 students have the option of being part of the 11 plus program. This entails attending: Two, 2-hour sessions of Mock examination preparation on either Tues. 9 th and 16 th May. Or Thurs 11 th and 18 th May. 4 mock 11+ assessments completed at The Saturday school from 9.00 to on the 13 th and 20 th of May. Either 4, 6 or 8, 2-hour revision sessions in August. Held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings 5.15 to 7.15 (1 st, 3 rd, 8 th, 10 th, 15 th, 17 th, 22 nd and 24 th of August) The Mock exam assessments identify areas that the students are requiring more input for. These are diagnostic assessments for all of the borough exams. The exams for each borough are different, so it is advised that other mock exams are sourced during the summer period (advice regarding this will be given after the mock assessments). Year 5 with Selective Test Program Option 1. One session per week by standing order monthly or cash payments every 2 months per month for 12 months (covers 36 payments of per session.) This runs from the last week in `September until the end of `May and costs for the course paid for over 9 months. The advanced payment is incorporated into this so the standing order is for 7 months at per month. Resources are extra and a fee is taken to cover these at the beginning of the course. Story Creating - Open to Years 4, 5, and 6. One day workshop and writing Course am to Friday February 10 th or Friday August 11 th. Private tuition 1 hour Non attendees of School (Reduces to lower fee after first 12 lessons.) 1 hour Attendees of School or students who have attended previously.

We have always paid referral fees to people who have recommended new customers but the friend has been responsible for completing the referee s information on the form and this has not always been successful. Now we would like to formalise it more so that it works more efficiently.
