2 Objectives To present a group of initiatives that contribute to sustainable mobility through the creation of an Integrated System of Support for Mobility: Multimodal Interoperable Geographically Scalable Contribute to the sustainability of urban environments and improve citizens quality of life, complying with the strategic objectives under the "European Transport Policy - Europe 2020" Provide all relevant information about a city s transportation system, including:

3 Platform + Model TRANSPORLIS web based multimodal geographic information system TRANSPORLIS Consortium 95% total coverage This platform + model of approach = main system for collecting and providing public transportation information In 2013, per month: unique visitors visits page views

5 Features Find Stops In the selected area of influence and transports that pass on them at a desired date and hour Fares & Schedules About each transport mode and operator Find stops Occurrences Involving alterations or interruptions of transport services, offering multimodal alternative routes Events Allows major events to be highlighted providing information to users on how to plan their journeys to the events Schedules

6 Features Widget Allows public entities to add to their websites components and features of TRANSPORLIS Generates HTML code which can be embedded into websites Each widget added to initiatives like Rock in Rio website, almost doubled the daily users of TRANSPORLIS: 1.5 K 2.9 K Widget at the Rock in Rio

11 Technical Multimodal Routing Algorithm INPUTS The road network, public transport network and parameters defined by the user, such as: Origin and Destination: On the map Streets Points of Interest Timetables of Departure and Arrival Preferred Modes of Transport Route types: Least transfers Least Walking Fastest Multimodal Routing Algorithm OUTPUTS Routes Expected arrival times Number of transfers Produced CO2 Trip time duration Trip distance Pricing (total and per transfer)

12 Future Developments Pilots TRANSPORLIS served as the basis for various pilot projects, such as the e-mobility project funded by the EC INTERREG IIIC program, improving mobility in Genoa (Italy), Valencia (Spain) and Lisbon (Portugal) The latest innovations that result of these pilots are implemented in TRANSPORLIS Pilot Real time Information By connecting to systems of the public transport operators will provide TRANSPORLIS with real time information on arrival at stops and stopping points, complementing with available historical and estimated data for route calculations. 13 Future Developments Ticketing To allow the calculation of the best fare for a trip taking into account passenger preferences such as how often he wants to make it This module will allow ticketing for the complete trip Geographic expansion Currently with the cooperation of the Portuguese Institute of Mobility and Transports (IMT), there's already work in progress to expand TRANSPORLIS to a national level. Our aim is to find similar partners and consortiums from other countries in order to offer users an international Integrated System of Support for Mobility

14 Conclusions It s our belief that the presented system and model of approach: Contributes to the promotion of public transportation Improves the efficiency of the local, national and international transportation system (promotion of multimodal operation networks) Contributes to achieve strategic objectives such as those under the "European Transport Policy Europe 2020" (namely reducing congestion, preventing incidents, safeguarding the environment, etc.)
