The Schengen countries are AT - Austria BE - Belgium CH - Switzerland CZ Czech Republic DE Germany DK - Denmark EE - Estonia ES - Spain FI - Finland FR - France GR - Greece HU - Hungary IS - Iceland IT - Italy LT - Lithuania LU - Luxemburg LV - Latvia MT - Malta NL - Netherlands NO - Norway PL - Poland PT - Portugal SE - Sweden SI - Slovenia SK - Slovakia The German Embassy in Jakarta is competent for issuing Schengen visas to citizens living in Indonesia if The travel destination is Germany, or The main travel destination in terms of the duration or the purpose of visit is Germany, or Lacking a specific main travel destination: Germany is the point of entry into the Schengen area (e.g. tourist round trips). Please verify which Schengen country is competent for issuing your visa! Obtaining a visa surreptitiously from a non-competent Embassy by providing false information may lead to refusal of entry at the border and prosecution. In the framework of the Schengen cooperation the German Embassy Jakarta is also issuing visas on behalf of Latvia in Indonesia.

2 - 2 - Personal appearance required? The documents have to be submitted directly at the Embassy or at one of the below mentioned receiving offices. Shipment by mail is not acceptable. Since the Schengen Visa Information System VIS was introduced in November 2013 fingerprint scans are necessary for all applicants. Thus personal appearance is inevitable. Children below the age of 12 are exempted. Applicants who obtained a Schengen visa marked VIS from the German Embassy or a foreign mission of another Schengen country during the last five years, are normally not required to appear in person for their next application. Please check the application form accordingly: EU-Kommission However, personal appearance will be necessary if the fingerprints previously saved in VIS cannot be used for the new application. This may be due to technical problems or to inferior quality of the scans. Besides, the Embassy is free to request personal appearance if deemed to be necessary for processing the application. Applying at the Embassy in Jakarta With appointment only! Please book your appointment in the internet in time: Schengen visa applications are accepted up to three months before the departure date and should be submitted not later than 15 days before departure. Please present the automatic booking confirmation received be at the entrance. Other receiving offices Schengen visa applications can also be submitted at the Honorary Consuls of the Federal Republic of Germany in Indonesia. The applications are forwarded to the Embassy in Jakarta for processing (extra fee). 3 - 3 - Documents Application form Fill in the German or English or Indonesian version of the electronic VIDEX application in the internet. Print the form completely - including all the barcodes. Your data will be imported into the visa system through the barcodes, which reduces the processing time considerably. If you do not have access to the internet and a printer you may as well use the paper application form to be filled in by hand. The form is available at the Embassy free of charge and can be downloaded from the Embassy s website. Data according to Par 54 / 55 of the German Residence Act (AufenthG) and Itinerary The form called Belehrungen Reiseverlauf is only available in German / Indonesian and can be downloaded here Photographs 2 pieces Sample photos are available on Please click on Fotomustertafel Biometric photographs in colour with a white or light grey background, size 3.5 x 4.5 cm. The face should cover at least 80 per cent of the picture 1 photograph to be glued on the application form right on top 1 photograph loose (not attached)

4 - 4 - Passport - not more than 10 years old - at least 2 empty pages for visas - The validity of Schengen visas will end not later than three months before the expiry date of the passport. Health Insurance Adequate health insurance coverage is needed during the entire stay in the Schengen area. Details on the required coverage and a list of approved local insurers is available on the information leaflet on health insurance here: Krankenversicherung.pdf Proof of insurance coverage is to be presented with the visa application for the duration of the first and second trip to the Schengen area. A Schengen visa for multiple entries or a long term Schengen visa (e.g. for a period of six months or 1 year see page 9) can only be granted if page 2 of the information leaflet on health insurance is signed by the applicant. Children below 18 years of age also need 1. Birth certificate 2. - Notarized affidavit of consent from the parent or legal guardian not accompanying the child - or divorce decree including ruling of custody. Indonesian divorce certificate (akte cerai) - or death certificate of the parent or legal guardian not accompanying the child Service fee - Adults and children over 12 years of age 60,- - Children between 6 and 11 years 35,- to be paid in cash in IDR at the Embassy s exchange rate. Visas are issued free of charge for children under 6 years of age, for spouses of German and other EU citizens and in some other cases. The fees are due upon acceptance of the application and are not refundable in case of denial. 5 - 5 - Tourism and medical treatment Travel purpose and itinerary Provisional flight reservation Itinerary within the Schengen area (e.g. bookings of flights, train and coach trips) Accommodation (hotel bookings, landlord s confirmation for private accommodation) For medical treatments also: Medical certificate stating date and expected duration of the treatment in Germanay and confirming that the payment of doctoral and hospital fees has been guaranteed. Funding International credit card like e.g. AmEx, VISA, MasterCard (no debit cards) Bank account statements covering three months, or saving account. If the trip is funded by parents or other family members, proof of kinship is required (e.g. birth certificate, Indonesian kartu keluarga). Certificate of employment confirming net salary. For students: confirmation of enrollment

For foreign nationals please add a copy of the host s residence permit for Germany For visiting family: Proof of kinship (e.g. birth or marriage certificate, family card kartu keluarga and copy of passport or ID card of the next of kin living in Germany) For visiting friends: Proof or relationship and copy of passport or ID card of the friend living in Germany Funding Funds provided by the applicant International credit card like e.g. AmEx, VISA, MasterCard (no debit cards) Bank account statements covering the last three months. For students: confirmation of enrollment If applicable: Proof of real estate property Funds provided by the host Formal obligation (Verpflichtungserklärung) The formal obligation (Verpflichtungserklärung) under the terms of Par. 66 to 68 of the German immigration act (Aufenthaltsgesetz) has to be declared at the local immigration office in Germany. 7 - 7 - Business trips / trade fairs Travel purpose Business trips: Invitation from your business partner confirming applicant s name and employer / company, travel data and purpose of visit. Visiting trade fairs: Invitation from an exhibitor. (No need to present an invitation from the trade fair organizer) Exhibitors will receive their visas free of charge. Please present the trade fair pass (Messeausweis). Recommendation letters of Indonesian cooperation partners of the German trade fair organizers will also be accepted. These are: EKONID (German-Indonesian Chamber of Commerce) for Kölnmesse, Messe München and Spielwarenmesse, PT Pro Fair Indonesia for Deutsche Messe AG and NürnbergMesse PT Dianta Mitrafairindo Internasional for Messe Frankfurt Exhibition GmbH Prakasita Eka Globalindo (PREGO) for Messe Berlin Funding Funds provided by the applicant or the employer International credit card like e.g. AmEx, VISA, MasterCard (no debit cards) Bank account statements of the applicant s private account or the company s account covering the last three months. Certificate of employment confirming net salary. Funds provided by the business partner in Germany Formal obligation declared by the company and excerpt from the commercial register stating a capital fund at least ,-. or Formal obligation by the business partner The formal obligation (Verpflichtungserklärung) under the terms of Par. 66 to 68 of the German immigration act (Aufenthaltsgesetz) has to be declared at the local immigration office in Germany. 8 - 8 - Processing Your documents will be prechecked at the counter. Originals will be returned immediately, except for the passport. Incomplete applications must be rejected. Please anticipate at least three working days for the processing of your visa. If the Embassy requests additional documents, processing will take longer. Please quote your reference number in all correspondence. The number is mentioned on the receipt (Abholnachweis / Kwitansi). Collecting the Visa Please present the receipt and the pick-up slip. The passport may be picked up by anyone authorized by the applicant in writing. Collection hours: Monday to Friday 11.00h h

The first 180-day period starts on the day of first entry. At the beginning of the next 180-day period, another stay of 90 days is permitted, as long as the visa is valid. Modifying the Validity Schengen visa labels cannot be modified after printing. In case your travel plans have changed a new visa is needed. Please submit the following documents, which may be submitted by a messenger on any working day between 7.30 am and 8.30 am. No appointment necessary!
