2 Pre Calving Minerals pre calving rals have been formulated based on extensive analysis of local silage ral profiles. Given the low trace els and high ral antagonists (molybdenum& iron) found in locally produced forage, rals should be sued throughout the dry period. At the very least pre-calver ral should be fed for 8-10 weeks before calving. Changes in farm practices have seen a doubling of potassium levels in silage over the past 10 years. Potassium interferes with the metabolism of both calcium and magnesium in the dry cow. This increases the risk of milk fever and other transition diseases such as retained placenta, metritis, ketosis and displaced stomach. These conditions also affect calf vitality and colostrum quality. Higher genetic cows are also more predisposed to these diseases. Forage testing has shown that forage fed to livestock is low in trace els Vitamin Boost ATP PRE CALVER ATP pre-calver is recommended for use in high genetic merit herds or herds or where silage ral results indicate the use of higher specification ral. Exceptionally high vitamins A, D and E Contains high Sel plex Protected Copper and Zinc for improved immunity Greater magnesium Contains additives to help reduce the effects of high potash (DCAD) and support a reduction in the risk of milk fever and associated probls. complary m e ral su High in antagonists Low in trace el Ca P Mg K Na CI S Fe Mn Cu Zn CO I Se Mo Dry cow requir Super Calf PRE CALVER High vitamin specification for healthy cow and calf Boosts colostrum quality Quicker, easier calving complary m e ral su High magnesium to support a reduction in the risk of milk fever and related issues 3
